Too many nights spent this way...

awaken slowly from 

restless sleep 

to the murmur of 

whispered tears

knightly defenders and 

teddy bears 

held tightly to 

heaving chest

futures seem as always 

bereft of promise, 

the past forever tainted with 

miseries, memories 

***** 

drift, at last into 

hysterical sleep 

awaken in tears to an 

uncertain existence.
