Jack returns to camp after the bitter breakoff of her friendship with Brenda. The welcoming committee ends up being an evil that is quickly gaining power. Something is waiting. | |||
CHAPTER FOUR BEGINNING OF THE SNOW BANK She stared out the van window with her heart beating wildly. She had waited half a year for this to happen and she could hardly stand the wait any longer. Her hands were shaking and her eyes were wild with excitement. Last time she had came, it had been at winter camp, also, with her best friend, Brenda. Brenda had a run in with a stalker and it seriously messed with her head. The two had a falling out and now Jack had no clue if Brenda was all right. She hoped that Tyson was taking care of her. Her heart ached at the memory for they had been the closest of friends but she just couldn't take Brenda's obsession with the stalker. It had been too much for her to handle and she had called off the friendship. She was now going away to a weekend of God, fun, friends, boys, freedom, and perhaps snow. The music of Creed blared over the speakers and everyone was singing their lungs out. Everyone, as in Mark who was driving, Nick sitting in the front seat, Matt, Alyssa, and some blonde girl Jack did not know, were sitting in the second row. Tracy, Jamie, and herself sitting in the third row. Alish, Theresa, and another girl that Jack did not know were sitting in the fourth row. In the very last row, sat Micheal, Zack, Erin, and Mitch. Jack sighed once more for she could hardly wait for camp and the wheels on the bus seemed to be going so slow. Time always seemed impossibly slow when she wanted something very badly. The bus was on the small dirt road that lead to camp but she could not stand how far away it felt. Her impatience was a flaw in her personality and she knew that she should hold it in check, but camp begged otherwise and she listened to camp. Suddenly, they rounded the bend and there was the entrance. A great howl of relief went up from everyone and they began chattering wildly. Singing with Creed was sadly forgotten as the camp was now around them. Mark rounded the bus to the front of the camp and parked where everyone piled out. No one was interested in sitting in the bus any longer than needed. The trailer was unlocked and a few of the boys began to unload. It was like a chaotic explosion of supplies for everyone dove in searching for their belongings. Jack found her heavy bag and grabbed it so she could get out of the herd of people. She did not like being that close to people for she was very anti-social. Her life had caused her to be so and even more so, was the lack of guidance for a social life. She waited for Tracy and Jamie before they went to the Mess Hall to sign in. Jack set her bag down by the door and they scrambled in. They waited in a line until they got packages that upon opening revealed IDs and other items a "secret agent" might need. She stood in line for her picture to be taken and Nick stepped in behind her. She had been great friends with Nick but hadn't seen him in a couple of years. He seemed to be growing up and maturing before her very eyes. "Wonder why they need our pictures?" he spoke up. His voice was deeper and huskier, which was a very nice change. "I have no clue and would rather they not. I detest my picture being taken," she grinned and decided that Nick was somewhat cute. He had pretty brown eyes, cute curly brown hair, and a knock-out grin. Though he was kind of dorky but in a cute way. He had definitely changed since she had last seen him. "Naw, at least you are pretty enough the camera won't break but see with me, well, it doesn't go so well," he joked. His smile was so innocent and genuine that she couldn't help but smile back. She hadn't realized how much she had missed him but being with him reminded her. "Please," she rolled her eyes. He was so goofy but then again that was how she remembered him. "So how is Brenda? I haven't seen her yet," Nick wanted to know. She felt as if her stomach had been yanked out of her body. "Uh she's not here and I don't know," was her pained response. She felt so much guilt because she knew that Brenda had needed someone to be there for her, not leave her. Click here to read the rest of this story (433 more lines)
