Ozymedius, a gentle demon from hell, meets an evil angel from heaven. Together, they destroy a Mafia gold mine using slave labor. | |||
"I'm really sorry, Mary," her mentor in heaven commiserated with the former Mary Malone, "but I can't assign males to satisfy your sexual urges. This is not Valhalla. Even there, the male residents have preference." "Maybe you could ask for volunteers, sir? Since I came here with sexual urges, others might also have them?" "No, Mary. We have computerized records and you're the only resident with those old feelings. I would know." "I can't help it, sir. I lived a good life or I wouldn't be here, saving my chastity for over eighty years while expecting a heaven where it would be okay to enjoy myself. During that time, I was considered a comely maiden, a fair-looker in middle age and a nice-looking old lady. Now, with everyone else neutered in heaven, sex means nothing. Ain't like I envisioned the afterlife ... at all." "We don't like that 'sex' word up here, Mary. I'll tell you what. Why don't I send an email to the Lord himself and see if he knows of a solution? I've been here over fifty-thousand Earth years, and it's never come up before. Maybe the Lord has a reason, some divine plan for you?" Trusting in her god, Mary smiled and hurried for her daily Worship Workshop, where the many ways to worship God were discussed. After that came six hours of personal worship, after which they had a break before another eight Earth-hours of Evening Worship. Altogether, Mary knew the joy of spending nine out of every ten hours worshiping God. Which was all right, she thought, except for all those nice-looking male-equipped angels. The ones she was forced to smell and rub against during the most active exercises. Mary had been warned, many times, for her surreptitious groping of genitals -- which had, in fact, led to the above conversation. An undefined time went by -- time having little meaning there -- with no answer from the "Boss." Still frustrated, Mary, day-dreaming about her obsession, took to reading romance novels attained on the heavenly blackmarket. That and self-satisfaction -- a discipline she had been very accomplished in on Earth -- helped her keep decorum. One day, between "Praise the Lord" class and an "Understanding the Significance of Various Crosses" lecture, she was called into her mentor's office. "Put on your whitest robe," he told her, nimbus flashing in excitement. "The Big Boss wants to see you, personally." His eyes were wide with wonder, it being the first time he had actually had a conversation with the Big Boss in all his years there. "Will His wonders never cease." Mary, equally excited at the prospect, was so enthused that in her haste she tore her best robe. She was so self-conscious in her second-best garments that she stumbled on carved-cloud steps leading to His very own office building. An imposing entrance-hall did nothing to calm her, it being such a huge room with paintings of Him on all the walls and giant statues of saints in abundance. A thick cloud-floor, a glowing light-blue in color, moved under her like an Earthly escalator, rushing her steadily toward an ornate reception desk in the distance. Behind the desk, several angels worked on personal computers, doing she had no idea what -- except that it must be important. A handsome angel sat behind the desk, bringing pangs to her nether regions. Mary longed to touch herself, from simply being in his presence. He glanced at her name-tag, giving an identification number, and actually spoke to her -- in a resonate male voice. "Thank you for coming, Mary. My name is Peter and I see you have an appointment with the Lord, Himself. Please, settle down. I know. He's an impressive sight, even to me," Saint Peter told her with a wide and expressive smile. "But you will find Him very easy to talk to. The Lord is a humble God. Please watch your language and try not to be Click here to read the rest of this story (1259 more lines)
