PART 3 - CH 3 | |||
THREE Sarah screamed and sank down on to the Bridge couch. Kane stared in disbelief at the small pieces lying around the floor, small glass-like pieces which had been Muslik Gra. “Jesus!” he muttered. “What happened to him?” Sarah asked. Kane shook his head then strolled over and sat beside her on the couch. “It must have been something in the Corridor,” he replied. “The last time we had any contact with him was when those hundreds of small stars appeared.” “Yeah, it could've been them.” “Or possibly something else happened after the stars.” Kane shrugged. “Maybe we'll never know.” Sarah shivered. “Poor Muslik. What are you going to do with the...with the bits?” “I'll sweep them up in a minute.” He put an arm round her and she snuggled closer. Around them on the Bridge, more of the monitors started coming to life and more of the lights tried to flicker on. “Power's coming back slowly,” said Kane. The Observation Screen however remained black as did the Earth Monitor and the Computer was still out. “Do you think we're out of the Corridor?” Sarah asked. Kane stared at the Observation Screen. “Could be. The Ship seems to be drifting around instead of moving forwards. We won't know till the Computer and the rest of the power comes back on.” “If we are out, do we tell Tyler?” “No. We leave the Earth Monitor off. He won't know.” “What about all those hidden cameras on the Ship?” Kane grinned. “Muslik traced them all one by one during the journey and disconnected them.” In the doorway, Blaze groaned. “You take care of him,” said Kane. “I'll take care of Muslik.” Sarah went over to the doorway as Blaze was sitting up. “Are you okay?” she asked, kneeling down and putting an arm round him. “What happened to me?” he asked, still a bit groggy. Sarah gave him a hug, mainly to distract him from Kane who was sweeping together all the pieces that had been Muslik. He found a box and put them in it then shoved it behind a console. Sarah helped Blaze to his feet and they went over to the couch and sat down. “How d'you feel?” she asked him. “My head aches,” he replied, gingerly feeling a lump. “That's where I whacked you with my laser pistol,” Kane told him. “Before I shot you. You're lucky is was set at ‘stun'” “How did I get on to the Bridge?” “Don't you remember?” Click here to read the rest of this story (235 more lines)
