EXTRACT FROM ‘GENETIC ENGINEERING', VOLUME 301 

CLONING – DEFINITION 

To produce an exact replica of a human or human-mutant under genetic
laboratory conditions. From start to finish, the process takes three 
months, regardless of the age of the original subject. The clone is 
completely identical to the original subject, both physically and 
mentally and it is impossible to tell them apart. 

ACCELERATED CLONING – DEFINITION 

As above, except that the process can be achieved in three days as
opposed to three months. 

ACCELERATED CLONING – RESEARCH 

After intensive study it has now been confirmed that accelerated cloning
produces eventual fatal side effects in the clone, which are then 
experienced by the original subject. Experimentation on volunteers from 
the maximum security prisons on Tregon and Kilce has demonstrated the 
following: 

1.	There is gradual physical and mental deterioration in the clone and
then the original subject, manifesting in impaired cerebral activity. 
2.	Muscular weakness, tremors and lowered resistance to infection. 
3.	The onset of the above symptoms occurs after one year. 4.	The death 
of the clone and then the original subject occurs after two years. 
5.	The reasons for all of these remain unknown. 

The study explains the multitude of baffling deaths over the last few
years of otherwise healthy people who were cloned by the accelerated 
method, their deaths occurring despite them receiving advanced 
intensive medical treatment. 

The only known symptom suppressant or prevention of death is reversal of
the accelerated cloning or de-cloning as it is now officially termed 
however this must commence as soon as any of the symptoms appear. 

Further aspects that the study revealed were that if a clone had pain
inflicted on it, the original subject also experienced the same pain 
(clone-pain) and if a clone was deliberately killed, the original 
subject also died (clone-death). The reverse was not applicable. 

CLONING – CONCLUSIONS 

The normal cloning method which takes three months may continue as none
of the above symptoms and no inexplicable deaths have occurred in the 
original subjects. 

ACCELERATED CLONING – CONCLUSIONS 

One of the original benefits of cloning was the export of the clones
from Earth in the highly lucrative slave labour market. Accelerated 
cloning was first attempted to enhance Earth's economy in this field 
and for a few years was a success. Despite the adverse effects on 
Earth's economy however, the Genetics Engineering Council, with the 
approval of the Supreme Court, has ordered immediate cessation of 
advanced cloning on humans, human-mutants and animals.

ACCELERATED CLONING 

Recent and conclusive scientific evidence has proven that serious side
effects and eventual death occurs in the original subject and the clone 
after accelerated cloning has been carried out. In accordance with a 
directive passed by the Supreme Court, accelerated cloning is now 
completely banned and is hereby regarded as a highly serious criminal 
act. Convicted offenders face an automatic life sentence on Sirene.
