A girl (Raye) is upset about the departure of her friend (Alex) who was having an affair with a man, another friend who had gone back with his wife, so in grief she murdered him with the same weapon that her friend had killed herself with.

Hollow Pictures

The gun shook in her hand and sweat dripped down her forehead. She had
always wondered what caused someone to take someone else's life. She
just never thought something would effect her so boldly that she would
actually do it.

Raye looked at his body lying there, the blood splattered on the walls.
A pool trickled from his body and rested in a maroon mess on the wooden
floor.

His chest slowly rose and fell. He was holding onto life as best he
could, but he felt it escaping each time his heart beat inside his
chest.

Behind closed lids he saw a tall shadow hovering above him. He
incoherently tried to think of the last few moments.

Flashes, small pictures came into his mind. He remembered where he was,
the laundry room. He was getting an outfit for his daughter. They were
going out tonight to meet up with his mother and brother.

The front door had opened. He assumed it was his wife coming home early
from work. She had said she might since they were going out tonight.

Then there was the loud bang. It came upon him without warning. The
stinging sensation soon to follow, he grasped his stomach. Warm liquid
flooded from the small intruding hole between his fingers.

Another loud bang, stinging on the other side, this time much higher. He
let out a scream of pain as he fell to his knees. He now recognized the
woman in front of him. Raye, someone he had considered a good friend.
So why was she doing this to him?!

She continued staring at him, her brows narrowed, the tightness in them
hurt her forehead, and to counter that pain she violently kicked him to
the ground. Pain raced throughout the back of his head.

She stood above him, just staring at what she had done.

He let out a breath of air. That's what had just happened, mere moments,
but seemed liked infinitely hours. He was still in disbelief.

Down the hall the two heard a sound muffled by the walls, but yet it
could shatter the house. The cry of a little girl. The loud sounds of
the gun woke her from her sleep.

"Raye... Please..." He gulped.

"She looked towards where the noise was coming from, then back towards
him. She narrowed her brows even tighter. Which made her head feel like
it was going to explode.

He was shaking, crying, begging for his life.

Raye laughed, thinking this was highly amusing, relieving some tension
from her brows. "Like she makes any difference. Alex didn't."

His heart stopped for a moment, and in that pause he thought that he was
actually dead. Just by hearing her name.

Alex, the young woman who had turned his world upside down, made
everything dull come back to life again. Make him smile, laugh and be
all the things he never thought he could be.

She was the exquisite woman he was seeing behind his wife's back, the
one who would have destroyed his family, the one who he was in love
with, and was Raye's best friend.

"I didn't mean to hurt her. I loved her." He said.

Raye screamed. "Loved her? Loved her?! If you loved her you wouldn't
have left her. But no... you have to keep your perfect family when you
know it is anything but."
