A poem about a phrase that is often heard these days. | |||
“I'm so tired. So very tired.” So says the driver, before he swerves into a crash, So says the addict, as she reaches for her stash. So says the student who hangs himself from the stairs, So says the doctor, who can't bring himself to care. So says the beggar, pleading on the street, So say the people, who pass unheeding by his feet. So says the priest, who doesn't believe in what he preaches, So says the teacher, who doesn't understand what she teaches. So says the singer who's disillusioned with the dream, So says the player as he lets down his team. So says the mother who cannot love her child, So says the policeman as another case is filed. So says the soldier as he picks up his gun, So says the killer, who knows exactly what he's done. “I'm so tired. So very tired.” The mantra of our lives. The final words we say before the light dies in our eyes. Tweet
