Love? (standard:poetry, 67 words)
Author: J. F. NaplesAdded: May 25 2002Views/Reads: 3481/0Story vote: 0.00 (0 votes)
A poem I written after my wife left me.

Love?

Hate boils, slumber toils,

Heart's cold, life's sold.

Love's fake, God's sake,

Loathing lives, nothing gives.

Someone close, someone near,

Touch is icy, smile's a sneer.

Eyes dead, love's fled,

Empty consumes, hate resumes.

False promises, affection gone,

Love's lost, hate's won.

Blind future, hope wrought,

Truth gone, future naught.

Love is a word.

A word with no meaning.

Meant for stories.

But not for life.
