a reflection on my country, i didn't intend it but it turned out quite melencholy | |||
THE LAST EMPIRE A quarter of the globe all under one nation, One country only once had this station, Though the borders are shrinking, And power is waning, Over commonwealth still, A monarch is reigning, An empire was forged with might on the sea, It was the last empire there ever will be, Though colonies now, Are countries themselves, Forever within them, The empire still dwells, Though the nation that ruled it was small and was slight, The entire world it seemed would quake at its might, The empire is dust, It is gone from the earth, But the honour it won, Still has its worth, One thing still remains to our once empire state, Our country is still called Britain the Great.
