Forty percent of life isn't enough, but alcohol can get in the way...

Giving out 

To drink it in 

Like air to breathe 

And inhale sin 

All other sorts 

Of spirits soar 

Look through the glass 

A life which bore 

A hole in me 

Now mend a patch 

And stop the cycle 

In its path 

One day prevent 

A further pain 

And take the needle 

From my vein 

Or drink to death 

And won't be far 

In trip I take 

From bar to bar
