The old saying is "Soon isn't soon enough." For someone who was born with an ocean's deep lack of patience I've LIVED that saying for most of my life. This poem is about understanding there IS joy to be found in waiting. | |||
Soon Is Soon Enough * My shattered heart continues to be bruised. My dazed mind lies in the land of the confused. My battered body longs for the absentee. My dispirited soul swims in the cold dead sea. * You, on the other hand, are in the exact same boat. Though the circumstances don't dance to my similar note. You're just as beaten up as I. Your heart isn't completely mine. Your head isn't focused on romance. Your soul is paying a high fine. * Once more we are two birds of a feather. There has to be a common ground where we can come together. What doesn't kill us, will make us stronger. This too we will defeat. Just have to hold back a little longer. * From the depths of my heart I am hopelessly in love with you. In the far corners of yours I know you feel it for me too. I realize I question a lot. I understand I have many fears. The deep scars, on both sides, won't ever truly disappear. * Life has a way of always repeating. It seems I'm back where I started. Being an one person player in a couple's game. I roam a land that's never been charted. When the time is right, it'll happen. What I want doesn't require translating. My desire is plain for you to see. When it comes to us, I don't mind waiting. © December15, 2010 by Lori Tweet
