Moonlit Dreams (standard:poetry, 96 words)

just something I wrote recently.

The nighttime darkens before me: like a tree, it casts a shadow

My breath sharpens, a knife

Undying movement in the meadow, a dance

Hearing must be relied on, for seeing is not a choice

Raising voices, chanting, drums

The beat thumps along with my heart

An open door waiting: the air stands still

To fly through the forets, elate

When I can see colors again

The trees dance too, a jig

Ants whisper things through the bark, a promise

But the drums will fade

And the shadows will recede, revealing the trees as they are.
