I GET A PUPPY

MY PUPPY MAY 20 2010 SLAMBANG

DOG AND I HAVE BEEN TOGETHER SINCE OCTOBER. SUPPOSEDLY HE WAS ABOUT NINE
WEEKS OLD WHEN I GOT HIM FROM THE HUMANE SOCIETY. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A
PROBLEM WITH HIS INDEPENDENT ATTITUDE. HE ONLY FOLLOWS COMMANDS IF HE
WANTS TO, UNLESS HE IS ON A LEASH. THIS HAS WORRIED ME QUITE A BIT. I
BOUGHT AND ELECTRIC FENCE TO KEEP HIM ON MY PROPERTY. THEN HE DECIDED
TO BARK WITHOUT STOPPING, SO I BOUGHT A BARK COLLAR.

ONE DAY I TOOK HIM WITH ME TO PAY THE WATER BILL AND WHEN WE GOT TO THE
BUILDING AND I STARTED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, HE JUMPED OVER ME AND RAN
OFF ACROSS THE STREET NO AMOUNT OF CALLING OR COAXING COULD GET HIM
BACK. AFTER QUITE A SPELL , I GOT TIRED OF HIM BEING SO CRAPPY AND
DROVE OFF.

I HADN'T GONE VERY FAR WHEN I LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND THERE HE
WAS RUNNING ALONG BEHIND ME. I STOPPED AND HE RAN AWAY AGAIN. SO I
DROVE OFF AGAIN AND SOON HE WAS RUNNING BEHIND, IN FRONT OF AND ALONG
SIDE THE CAR. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL WE ARRIVED HOME. IT WAS A LONG DRIVE
AND I AM SURE HE WAS POOPED OUT WHEN WE GOT HOME. SINCE THEN, I HAVE
NEVER TAKEN HIM ANYWHERE EXCEPT TO THE VET FOR HIS CHECK-UPS AND THEN I
ALWAYS HAVE HIM ON A LEASH.

WELL LAST WEEK I WENT TO THE NURSERY AND BOUGHT THREE GORGEOUS TOMATO
PLANTS AND THREE LARGE YELLOW, (MY FAVORITE COLOR FOR ) MARIGOLDS THE
NEXT DAY I PLANTED THE TOMATO PLANTS, SAVING THE MARIGOLDS FOR LATER.
THE NEXT MORNING, I WENT OUT AND MY TOMATO PLANTS HAD BEEN DUG UP AND
DESTROYED AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT A CERTAIN DOG HAD BEEN IN MY GARAGE AND
GOT MY MARIGOLDS, POT AND ALL, CARRIED THEM OUT INTO THE YARD AND
DESTROYED NOT ONLY THE MARIGOLDS , BUT ALSO THE PLASTIC POTS IN WHICH
THEY WERE PLANTED. I WAS SO DISCOURAGED AND ANGRY I DECIDED THE DOG
WOULD HAVE TO GO. THEN THIS MORNING, I DISCOVERED HE HAD USED MY DINING
ROOM AS A RESTROOM.

AFTER I CLEANED UP THE RUG, DECIDED I HAD ENOUGH.THIS DOG AND THAT HE
AND I WERE NEVER GOING TO MAKE IT, SO, HE GOES BACK TO THE POUND AND I
WILL BE HERE ALONE AGAIN, BUT AT LEAST I WILL NOT HAVE A “BUMP OF
DESTRUCTION” IN MY LIFE. I WILL MISS THE DOG BECAUSE I LOVE HIM, BUT I
JUST CAN'T HANDLE THE TROUBLE HE CAUSES ME.

TODAY IS SUNDAY AND THE DOG POUND IS NOT OPEN, BUT TOMORROW WE WILL BE
GOING BACK. I KNOW I WILL MISS HIM BECAUSE HE WAS A LOVER, BUT HE WAS
ALWAYS LOOKING FOR THINGS TO DESTROY AND IT SEEMS THE THINGS HE
DESTROYS ARE ALWAYS THE THINGS I VALUE. MAYBE HE WILL FIND A HOME WITH
SOMEONE WHO WILL LOVE HIM AND BE WILLING TO OVERLOOK HIS SHORT
COMMINGS.

MONDAY : WELL I WAS AS GOOD AS MY WORD . I TOOK BUDDY BACK TO THE DOG
POUND AND LEFT HIM THERE AND CAME BACK HOME. I FOOLED AROUND THE HOUSE,
BUT IT JUST WASN'T THE SAME AND THEN I BEGAN TO WORRY ABOUT “ BUDDY”
AND WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN TO HIM. I KNEW IF NO ONE ADOPTED HIM HE WOULD BE
PUT TO SLEEP AND THE MORE I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT THE MORE I FELT BADLY.

FINALLY, I COULDN'T STAND IT ANY MORE SO I WENT BACK TO THE POUND A GOT
BUDDY AND BROUGHT HIM HOME WITH ME. HE HADN'T CHANGED A BIT. HE IS
STILL THE SAME INDEPENDENT CUSS HE ALWAYS WAS, STILL DESTRUCTIVE , BUT
ALSO AT THE SAME TIME HE STILL IS A LOVER AND I GUESS I AM A SOFTIE,
BUT I CAN'T TAKE HIM BACK TO THE POUND. I SUPPOSE HE WILL BE MY BAD
“PENNY” AND I WILL BE STUCK UNTIL ONE OF US DOES TO THE PLACE OF
ETERNAL PUNISHMENT.

I HOPE HE DOESN'T GET THERE THE SAME TIME I DO.
