I wanted to see if I could sustain a longer poem. It is distinctly fantasy, but could apply to any age in history, especially in a culture that is musically oriented. | |||
"The Sword Quest" A boy wanders Seeking that which is lost In the ages of deep past, Now no more than legend. He travels with no guide nor direction Yet hope springs eternal Within the breast of youth. A song started this entire tale, About a king of old And his mighty sword. A young heart sang with joy At the propsect of glory In finding the missing treasure. So he left home On the slim clue of a song To seek his heart's desire; An ancient and famous sword. He traveled far and wide As days turned to years, His adventures are too many to tell, But had them he did. During this trying time He had many doubts, Did the sword exist Or was it only a fevered dream? But on he looked Sometimes going back To places he had already been To seek the sword that haunted him. Then one day While sitting on the shore Of the wide, blue sea A realization came As he looked back At the long years gone. Perhaps there was a different purpose In the making of the song Click here to read the rest of this story (73 more lines)
