The country group Alabama has a song with this title. It was playing in the background when I wrote this. In so many ways it was my inspiration for this poem. What better title could I have given it then what inspired it? For he IS "Close Enough To P | |||
Close Enough To Perfect * Twice a week you stand before me in all your glory. The very sight takes my breath away. It isn't only the outward beauty I gawk at. I also ogle the soul. * From your shiny, amazing brown eyes to the awesome, splendid hues of your aura I inspect the allure which oozes from your pores. * I squint at the bright sun illuminating your skies. I glare at the darkness skulking in the corners. I stare at the open landscape and long to explore every inch, curve, and branch. I focus on the mighty drum beating in your chest. I snoop and spy on things never seen before. I eyeball the things which have. I peek in locked doors. I brazenly walk in open ones. I gape at your appealing qualities. I eye the scars, bruises, and flaws with deviance and love. * Without the past you wouldn't be the person you are today. With every glimpse, with every unseen sight revealed, with every uncharted depth mapped, I fall deeper and deeper in love with you. © May 12, 2009 by Lori Tweet
