Losing your mind is a learning experience. | |||
"So that's it?" she said. "Just like that?" Of course, "just like that". What did she expect me to say? I was breaking up with her. That's it. Why? I thought about that all the way back to the dorm. ”why." She just Wasn't cute anymore, that's why! What can I say? Maybe she was too Cute... It doesn't really matter anymore. When I opened the door to my,OUR room, I gazed upon a Chaotic scene of the most stereotypical order. A PARTY. Don't these People ever study? But then again...this IS college, after all. What Else is there, right? Thank you "national lampoon's..." I made my way past the formerly sober, over the presently unconscious, And through the soon-to-be-arrested, until finally I'd reached my quiet Place. The bathroom. I locked the door and turned to lean my back Against it. It was only a small comfort, but losers can't be Choosers... What a day. What an awful, awful day. The loud, thumping music made the Door vibrate. This, in turn, made my head do likewise. I sank down to The floor, overwhelmed with disgust and contempt for such a foul set of Events. I crawled toward the sink and pulled myself up by its cold, White surface. I stared into the mirror. "Candy man, candy man, Candy man." I whispered. ... Nothing. Is there no solace? No Knife-wielding psychopath to take me away? I fell back to the floor. I closed my eyes for a moment. It was too loud To sleep. No, My dreams of a "nightmare on Elm Street" finale would never be... I would have called upon more dark creatures of horror Cinema, but the thought of some loser in a hockey mask being the last Thing I saw, became strangely repulsive--I always hated hockey. With a Passion. I closed my eyes again, and when I opened them, the word "predictable" lost all meaning. Standing over me, staring down, was...a girl. I Looked. The door was still closed behind her-Still locked. I slowly stood up. Unbelievable. She was hot. HOT AND A HALF! The kind of girl who would steal the gum out your mouth. Her beautiful black hair poured down just past her shoulders. Mmm... By the way she was dressed, I wouldn't have been surprised if I saw her at the party, or even in class. Just some jean shorts and a Well-fitting pink t-shirt that had "burn" written across it. Ouch. What An honest statement. She seemed normal....enough. I asked her if she was real. She nodded her head "yes". I asked her howShe got inside. She just smiled softly. Can I... she nodded "yes" again. I touched her shoulder. Felt real. I applied a little pressure. She resisted. Well, that pretty much answered 99.9% of my questions, so...off to the races! I leaned in for a kiss, but then stopped suddenly. I would hate to be The butt of my own mind's idea of a practical joke. "Go get me a beer." I asked. Surely an impossible feat...but just like that, she opened the door, and walked out. hmm... A few minutes later, she came back, beer in hand. I thanked her as I took the beer and slid back down the wall to the ground. She sat down with me, still smiling so beautifully. I opened the can and went bottoms-up. At least I could say that I wasn't entirely sober... She leaned closer, her aforementioned beautiful black hair touching my hand. I took another drink. "So...what's your name?" I asked. "Sue." She said with that trademark smile. Even more shocking than knowing that she could talk, was hearing her voice... IT SOUNDED EXACTLY LIKE MINE. EXACTLY. I dropped the can. It WAS too good to be true... She came even closer. "Do you wanna kiss me?" She said as she twirled her fingers through her hair. That would have been cute. It really would have... "No...not really." I said, leaning my head back against the wall. She looked Disappointed. I closed my eyes. When I opened them...she was gone. Just like that. I was glad. I don't know where she came from. Maybe she was just my guilt made manifest by the strange inner-workings of a mind that has seen and lived one too many scenes out of a bad college movie. Maybe my Girlfriend got so ticked off that she managed to put a curse on Me. who knows? I guess the only real truth I learned Is that I'll even dump a dream girl if I don't like her voice. How about that... The End Tweet
