When I started this poem I couldn't figure out how to finish it. I sent it to a friend and he knew how to do just that. Thanks Tony! (Oops! Put up the unedited version yesterday ;o(.) | |||
Beauty Is In The Eye of The Beholder ~ A blossoming ruby rose raises a leg to see how deep its roots grow. An radiate scarlet rose raises a petal to see how the sunshine feels. An adored crimson rose raises its face to be blinded by the brightness of love. A blood-red rose wants to be a bud again. The world is a scary place. It's all alone. ~ Is the crown-of-the-field attractive because of the ground, sun, or love it feels? Or is the bloom appealing because it tries so hard not to be? Does the rose see itself in the same way others do? ~ Simply yearns for sustenance to make its short life pleasant. Doesn't ask for admiration or understand my longing stare. The beauty of the rose is known to all. Yet the humble flower waits for its petals to fall. © February 17, 2008 by Lori and TLB * Crown-of-the-field is an European annual having large trumpet-shaped reddish-purple flowers and poisonous seed; a common weed in grainfields and beside roadways; naturalized in America.
