I've finally gotten around to finishing my essay series on love and hate. | |||
Love and Hate Part 4 (The Conclusion) When I started this, months ago, I thought I would finish quickly to share my views on the words love and hate. Now everyone has forgotten the first three parts, so I think it's time to finish the piece. Why? Because I want you to remember the love and forget the hate. Last month I thought of finishing this piece. I had ideas where it should go and where it shouldn't. There is so much hate in the world, why would I want to devote anymore of my time to it? There isn't much love, at least not enough to go around, for there to be a movement either. This isn't the ‘70's where they staged sit-ins to protest. This isn't the ‘80's where they let hid it. This isn't the 90's where people stopped caring. This is the year 2008. What do we have to show for it? The hate has to stop if the world is to change. We have to put aside our difference and work together, Republicans and Democrats, Muslims and Christians, Blacks and White, Gays and Straights. We can't do this by ourselves. This is where we've always failed. We let our hatred, for others different than ourselves, cloud our judgment and ignore the love they may be offering. The Bible says to love your fellow man as you would love yourself. It also says to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If we were to start loving our neighbors, and I'm not talking about the people next door to you, and we acknowledged they are people with their own belief systems maybe this world would change. If we opened our hearts enough to allow them to see the love we give them maybe, they would offer it back. Someone has to start it. We all can't say let the next person be nice. The good guys always wins? Well if they do who were the bad guys and why were they fighting? Maybe I'm naive and stupid. But I tell you one thing. I brought my children up to not judge someone by the party they are affiliated with, the color of their skin, their choice of sexual orientation, or their religion. They know if I ever catch them doing something this rudely, there's a high price to pay. Since we couldn't do the job of fixing the world for them, maybe they can do it for their children. You want to know the reason I decided to pick this piece back up? I was visiting a website today. I wanted something unique for my blast comment. I found a great site of the best love quotes. I had to stop after reading 100 of them. My heart longed for what they talked about. Not for myself, for I'm the only one who could love me that way. More because there are people out there who felt this kind of love and you can't see the difference in the world. Maybe if others felt this way too then the world would see what a good thing love can be again. Now, granted, most of these are made up stories of what love should be. But, some of them are good ones. I'm going to include a few in a minute. I wish I was half as talented as the people who wrote these. If I were, well maybe I wouldn't be in the situation I am. Or maybe, even I, would have more love to give away. After I read this first one, it moved me so much I had to send it to a friend. The comment I got, which I hope was a joke, was the person would have slowed down and ditched the bike. That takes the romance out of it. Let me show you what I'm talking about. True Love Means . . . A girl and a guy were speeding over 100mph on a deserted road on a motorcycle. Girl: Slow down, we're going too fast. I'm scared! And I don't want anything to happen. Guy: Come on, don't worry. I know what I'm doing. You're having fun right? Girl: NO . . . please stop. I'm really scared Guy: Then tell me you love me. Girl: I LOVE YOU! Now please slow down. Guy: Give me a hug. *The girl hugs him* Guy: Can you help me out here? Will you take me Helmet off of me and put it on you? It's bugging me. In the paper the next day: A motorcycle crashed into a building brake failure. Two people found, but only one survived. The Truth is: Halfway down the road the guy realized his brakes broke, but he didn't want the girl to know. Instead, he had her say she loved him and felt her hug him for one last time. Then had her wear his helmet so she would live, even though it meant that he would die. - Unknown Click here to read the rest of this story (127 more lines)
