The adventure continues as Eagle tantilizes Allie and Connor with clues to Francie's whereabouts!

2. Vanished

Connor sat with her for hours, Amanda breezed in and out regularly to
check on her. Connor was concerned, it had been hours, and Allie still
wasn't awake. He watched as Amanda came in, looking concerned, she
peered down at Allie and glanced in Connor's direction. "When will she
wake up?" "I don't know, Connor. Rohypnol can have a person unconscious
for hours." "Has her fever broken? Isn't there anything you can do? My
Allie's lying here in danger and you're ..." "Connor, I understand how
frustrating this must be. We're doing everything we can. Her fever's
still at 103, we're giving her IV fluids, and trying to bring it down,
she's in good hands." Amanda left then feeling sorry for Connor. Lynn,
Thelma and Clint waited anxiously outside. Connor continued to talk to
Allie, she was pale and looked weak. "Allie, I love you, sweetheart.
You need to wake up for me, darling. We're all worried about you. I
never should've left you alone, I should've called in sick! I don't
know why the hell I left you alone! I never thought that this would
happen, Allie. I love you so much." Tears cascaded down his cheeks as
he thought of her. He had failed her and he would never forgive himself
for that. He felt her delicate skin beneath his fingers and longed to
hear her voice.

There was a knock at the door which pulled him from his thoughts. Lynn
stood timidly outside. Her blue eyes brimmed with tears as she stood
before him. "How is she? Has her fever gone down yet?" "No, it's still
at 103, I'm worried, Lynn." "Is she awake?" "No, she's still
unconscious. Amanda doesn't know if it's due to the fever or the
Rohypnol." "Oh, Connor!" she began to sob uncontrollably. Connor
embraced her and did his best to comfort her. "I'll keep you posted,
Lynn." She left then, she wasn't allowed in to see Allie, because she
wasn't immediate family. Connor resumed his usual place by her bed and
began to recount stories of Francie's childhood. "Remember the time she
was about 2 and we took her on that picnic. We ..." he stopped when he
saw her eyes flutter open. "Allie?" she didn't answer, but squeezed his
hand. "Allie? Can you hear me?" "Connor?" she came around slowly,
amidst a daze of hospital lights and Connor's concerned eyes. She felt
groggy, and nothing was making sense. "Connor, where am I? Where's
Francie? What happened?" "Just relax, honey. You're in the hospital,
you have a very high fever. But you've got the best doctors working on
you. Do you remember anything about this afternoon?" She was in a fog,
and concentrating was difficult. "I ... I don't remember much. I'm so
dizzy, Connor." "Okay, just take it slow, Allie. Try to think." "I'm
trying, I remember Lynn showing up with tea and toast I think. Then I
laid down on the couch and that's about all I remember." "You don't
remember anyone breaking in, or a man?" "No should I? Where's Francie?"
"Allie, I ..." "What the hell's going on, Connor? Where's Francie?
Something's happened hasn't it? Something terrible's happened!" her
breathing began to become faster, and Connor thought she was going to
pass out. She grew very pale, and looked almost ashen. Her grip on his
hand tightened, as her heart rate and breathing quickened. "Allison,
calm down, sweetness. Francie is missing." "Missing? What do you mean
missing?" "She was kidnapped from the house. You were the only one
there, Allie. When I called to check on you, I got no answer. I rushed
over and found you unconscious on the couch. I thought it was your high
fever, but when I went to find Francie, she wasn't there. Allie, her
room was ransacked, shards of glass everywhere ..." "My baby's gone! I
can't believe it! What the hell was I doing that I let a man break in
and take her?" she tried to get out of bed, but Connor stopped her.
"Allison, you have to stay in bed, sweetness. You were drugged with
Rohypnol. It's a date rape drug, it's put into drinks and dissolves
almost instantly. After taking it, you lose consciousness, and memory
of the events that happened while you were drugged." "You're saying
that someone broke into our house and drugged me? Then they took
Francie?" tears cascaded down her cheeks as Francie's face filled her
mind. She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness engulfed her. Connor
was growing more worried by the moment and looked into her eyes. He
held her hand tenderly as he pleaded with her. "Lay down, honey. Try to
rest. Your fever's very high, you need to rest." "She's out there,
Connor! Francie's out there! Oh God! So someone drugged me and then
took her?" She settled into bed again, hoping the dizziness would
pass." "It looks that way. Are you okay? Is there anything I can do for
you?" "I'm dizzy, and no I'm not okay! Francie is missing!" "You're
probably dizzy from the Rohypnol." "She's gone! Connor we have to find
her! Oh my God! Have you put out an APB? Have you called the cops? What
are you doing to find her?" "We're doing everything we can, sweetheart.
