Echo finds Jon Jon, but she makes the hideous discovery that he is not the brother she once knew and she finds herself in a dead end dilemna. | |||
The dwarf's house was eerily silent, even the scratching of the rats could not be heard as she waited. The hairs on her neck were standing up, something was wrong. She hadn't killed him at the house so she was sure he would have returned to his hole in the ground. When she tried to the door, she was surprised to find it open and not locked. Cautiously she stepped in and knew what was wrong, the house reeked of death. In the corner, half buried under some garbage was the body of the little man and there were rat corpses scattered all about, some stabbed but mostly shot. “What in the world?” she gasped more to herself than to anyone. Then she heard noise behind her and knew she had fallen into a trap. Pulling her sword out as she moved, she spun to face her attacker. It was like a slap in the face. There was her brother, as handsome as ever but with eyes that were more dead than the man that had been slaughtered. “Jon Jon,” she whispered, her blade going down a bit but not much. She wasn't about to let her guard down for one who had abandoned her and now looked like a drugged out monster. “Oh my sweet sister,” his voice was raspy and sent chills skipping down her spine, “Sweet, sweet sister. Sweet, beautiful Diana, the vigilante who saved all those girls. Look how nicely you've grown up.” Something about the way he eyed her and spoke made her want to pull her coat tight around her but she wasn't about to loosen her grip on her sword to do so. “My name's not Diana, she died with our parents. I'm Echo,” she spoke haughtily, trying not to allow her fear to show. Her remark made him laugh then he licked his lips at her. “Echo, I like that. You have a pleasant way of rolling off my tongue. Our poor parents, vicious and brutal death, wasn't it? They always knew it was coming though, it was just a matter of time,” his words touched a nerve and she stiffened. “So what? You shouldn't have left us,” she raged. “I didn't leave cause I was scared to die with them,” he chuckled, “I'll explain my reasons later, when we have more privacy.” At that, he stepped aside and revealed his companions. Her heart sunk and she knew she was beat for the moment, there were far too many. Glaring at him, she slid her blade back into it's place. His smile was cunning and devious and far different from the smiles that she had once shared with him. This wasn't her brother, but a dangerous and malicious beast that needed to be slaughtered. Kicking herself for being so easily trapped, she trod silently, ignoring the hungry gazes she received from her captors. She had no idea what was in store for her but she knew it wasn't nice and so far, she couldn't' see a way out of it. If she lived, she was going to kill Jon Jon, he was not who she remembered. His hand kept brushing her, her hip, her butt, her arm, leg, whatever he could accidentally touch. It was all she could do not to scream and start slapping at him, but she maintained her composure and focused on trying to figure a way out. Nothing leapt out at her and she knew she was in trouble.
