A man and wife, collectors of hats, having gone too far in their endeavours. | |||
We Collect Hats A thousand hats Uncounted hats Hats on bloodstained racks Hats in closets Hats on shelves Hats in stacks and stacks Perfumed hats And muskrat hats And ones that don't quite fit Some still have Their price tags on “Please darling, can't we quit?” She said she wanted Just one more The Mac worn by the judge I held my ground And blocked the door This time I wouldn't budge The threats she made Were so obscene I really had no chance My mind went numb My knees grew weak She said, “Why don't we dance?” She pressed her body Next to mine And whispered in my ear “Come on baby Have some fun” I felt familiar fear My voice was choked My mouth was dry My heart was upside down She bent my arms And placed my hands Beneath her satin gown As usual Her flesh was bare Her fever raced through me I felt compelled To strike her down But said, “Please, let me be” “Oh no,” she cooed “We can't stop now We've only just begun” She forced my hands Between her legs And said, “What's done is done And as before So many times My head began to spin She led me through The gates of hell We loved in blood and sin As though a witch She measured time According to her greed Unfulfilled She brought me back An empty shell, but freed She smoothed the edges Of the Mac I closed my eyes in pain Our guest that night The judge, lay dead Outside I heard the rain Tweet
