The boys eyes were now glowing with ferocity that no man of Nolam had seen before in any beast. Aparku saw only life and held no memories of friends or family, for he now knew thwat he had but himself. He looked around at all in hatred and the villagers could see the ropes that bound him to the stake were rapidly unraveling. He was only a boy, but he had the eyes of a man ready to take lives meanininglessly. The greatest of the men, Ithaca, stood before him with his axe above his head. Surely he would not kill the boy they exclaimed and Ithaca snapped at their sympathy. 'Look at his eyes, you all! certainly you can see the thirst for blood! The hunger for manslaughter! All of you, including I, have seen his strength and he must be stopped while he is not in position to use it!' The axe came down from the spot above Ithaca's head. But none heard the slice of the sharp, the splash of blood. They opened the villagers opened their eyes to see the axe laying upon the ground and its keeper laying beside it. From that day, Aparku never returned to the village.... Tweet
