A blues song. As an old bluesman once said, "If it don't start with 'I woke up this morning', then it's not the blues." | |||
Woke Up This Morning by Jack Straw . Well I woke up this morning feeling so blue. My whiskey was gone and so were you. . Now it's a sad, sad thing that a man's got to lose the only two things that chase away the blues. . My whiskey was one the other was you. My whiskey was sweet and my woman was too. . Now the streets are empty late at night, and if you ain't got no money then you ain't got no life. . Seems like god made two things to settle up: one was my whiskey, one was my life. . But when both are gone and it's too hard to bear there's nothing to turn to, no one to care. . In the streets there's no answer there's not even a prayer. . And every morning that comes is a morning that's bare. . And if you ain't got no whiskey and someone to share it's a world got no answers not even a prayer. Tweet
