The Federation accepts Luke's proposal and Leia meets a new mentor. | |||
Chapter Two While Luke was being transported across the Universe and making preliminary arrangements with the newly met Federation, the Millennium Falcon was fleeing for her life. As the ship dodged and weaved Leia felt a void appear in her mind, a severing of a link she didn't even know she had to Luke. "Han get up here!" she shouted frantically seeing the asteroid field dead ahead. "An asteroid field!" "That's not all Han, I felt something terrible happen just a moment ago!" "Later, navigating through this is going to take all I have." "You're not thinking of going through that are you?!" "Why not, they'd be crazy to follow us wouldn't they?" "You don't have to do this to impress me!" "Hang on Sweetheart, we're going in!" A bare 5 minutes later the last pair of TIE fighters collided and exploded. "Han can you head that way?" Leia asked pointing. "What? I was going to land for repairs before we get smashed!" "Han I know this sounds crazy, but something happened over that way, something important!" "Well I guess we can make repairs over there as easily as over here." About the time that Luke was offering his 1 for 1 arraignment's to Captain McDonnell the Millennium Falcon exited the far side of the Asteroid field. "Where too now Princess?" Han asked sardonically. Traveling all the way through the Asteroid field without doubling back had taken all his skill and energy, but one thing was sure, they had lost the Imperial pursuers. "That star, I feel drawn too it somehow." Leia said pointing. "That's odd, it is close but there is no information on it in the navigation database." "No information?" "Well it is listed for gravitational potential calculations, but nothing else, no name, no data at all except that it exists." "Can we make it there?" "It's a little far, but do you want to risk it? If there aren't any people there we might not be able to punch a signal through to the Alliance." "Trust me Han." "I've got a feeling I'm going to regret this." Han said as he unknowingly set course for the Dagobah system. Meanwhile aboard Spacedock in Earth Orbit. "Mr. President, I urge you to accept the terms and conditions of this offer with great dispatch. The designs for this X-Wing fighter, modified to carry Federation pulse phaser cannons and miniature Photon Torpedoes, will far outclass our Peregrine design in every aspect." "But isn't it true that these X-Wings need to be transported by a larger starship?" Click here to read the rest of this story (265 more lines)
