Cherish Indeed (standard:other, 529 words)
Author: jcrct7Added: Oct 12 2002Views/Reads: 3529/1Story vote: 0.00 (0 votes)
Something I wrote for my English class on a test. I thought it would be a mixture of humor and have a bit of moral value/s to it. Hope you get something out of it!

~Cherish Indeed~

~Written By Chris Wade~ (jcrct7)

Floating, bobbing alone to the restless, aqua tides was the one thing
that baffled us all. A cold, shivering rush swept around my scales as
I gazed upward to the bright, glimmering object, so peculiar. Others,
who were hovering slightly around me, were also confused and not able
to comprehend the alien object on the surface. It beckoned me,
whatever it was, and I swam hurridly to it. Such a clamor and chasten
came from behind me as I turned to see my peers waving and shouting. I
was too far in the distance to hear what they said. All well, though,
as I wanted to cherish this object in silence. There was a sudden,
pungent smell as I approached the object. It reminded me of my
mother's garbage soup. Sniffing the object causiously, I decided to
nibble it with my newly grown-in chompers. In an instant, a sharp,
cold steel-like feeling filled my mouth and I was lifted upward,
swaying in the ozone. Frantically tring to free myself from the
horrible pain. I cringed as I was held briefly by a strong hand and
thrown into total blackness. I knew what had happened and I coveted
the others freedom as I squiggled in a sweaty, dirty enviroment. All
went still, but I wanted too much to live. I was belittled in one
instant. One mere second of choice. I complied to death's wish and I
breathed my last breath. Cherish indeed.

~Note From The Author~

This is a mini-story that I had to include in a recent test using
sentence variety, sensory imagery, and b&c vocabulary words. (try to
spot them, there are 10 vocab's!) I was pondering what to write about
and this idea had been into my head and I decided it would be perfect
for this! I have always hated fishing and I always think about the
poor fish that are used as game, even if they are for food. I wanted
to make it somewhat humerous, but have a moral to it also. I got an
"A" on this portion of the test! (don't ask me what I got on the
rest...LOL) But I wanted to share this with you so maybe you can get a
little something out of it, be a petite laugh or a thoughtful silence
of whatever. Please give me a rate and a comment on this! I would
like to hear from you! Here are some things I would like to know:

~What, if anything, did you get out of this mini-story?

~Anything I need to brush up on?

~What was good about my writing? Be specific, please!

~If you rated me, what rate was it and why did you choose that specific
rating?

~What genre do you like to read/write best?

~Would you read more of these types of writings? (mini-stories)

~Any suggestions/ideas for some future mini-stories?

~Anything else you would like to add?

That's all! Please respond to at least a couple of those questions and
I will be working on my next submission to NiceStories.com! Until
then, have a great day and "Cherish indeed your life!"

~Chris Wade~ (jcrct7)
