Lee leaves back to his home. | |||
Karen and Lee had a long not to mention late night. Karen found herself in tears quite often in the remaining twenty four hours they had together Lee was quiet and reflective. They lay together on the bed that morning gazing into one anothers eyes in quiet communication. Karen watched from the bedroom door and had felt ill as she watched Lee pack his bags. She carried in cup of coffee to him. Karen knew that it would be hard when Lee left but she didn't quite expect this magnitude of heartache she felt deep within. "Suck it up", Karen said to herself, "its not the last time you will have to go through this". Karen let out a huge sigh, Lee looked at her and held out his hand. Karen moved in closer to Lee as he wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on the top of her head. "I just wish we had more time together," Karen started to say as another rush of hot wet tears poured from her eyes. Lee's arms tightened around her as thoughts went through his mind," Dang, I wish I could take her with me, I wish that we had more time together myself, I wish I could say something but I know if I do I too will cry, hell my eyes are already starting to tear up, I'm supposed to look after her, I'm supposed to be the strong one here." Karen's tears eased off and she looked up at Lee seeing in his eyes that he too had tears that were ready to fall. Karen smiled at Lee, and took a deep breath to regain her composure. Lee moved to his bag and pulled from it a t-shirt that he had worn the previous day. His scent still on it, he handed it to Karen. Karen smiled thanking Lee and raised it to her face inhaling it. She tucked the t-shirt under her pillow to wear that night to bed. "Well, I hate to say it but...." began Lee. "I know, we have to get going" said Karen as she felt another onslot of tars beginning again, She looked at Lee quickly and turned away before he noticed. "Shit," Karen thought to herself, "He must think I am one wimp. Good god, All I've done was cry." Karen called the taxi to take them to the airport as Lee and Blaze said thier good bye's. "It was nice meeting you Lee," said Blaze as he stuck out his hand. "It was very nice meeting you Blaze," said Lee in reply. Karen watched the exchange paying close attention to Blaze's reactions. Blaze did like Lee and it was apparent in his mannerisms. She watched as Blaze as he avoided Lee's eye contact, and noticed tears beginning to form in Blaze's eyes. Blaze beat it out of the living room after the goodbyes to seek solace in his bedroom as his mom and Lee left out the door. Enroute to the airport all was very quiet, as Lee and Karen held hands in the backseat of the taxicab. Once the airport was in sight, Karen's eyes welled up with tears that threatened to fall. Together they went to the check in, as Lee produced his passport and ticket, Karen let the tears softly fall. Lee got the information on his flight boarding time and seat, they had yet some time to spare as they ventured to the airport coffee shop. Stopping briefly at the gift shop to retrieve some gum, Karen hung on to Lee, her eye's puffy from the tears, and his face solemn as he paid for his purchase. A lady behind them intruding on thier silence observed them, and spoke up. "Let me guess, he's leaving and you are staying," both Lee and Karen looked at the woman behind them. She appraised the couple recognising in them the identical emotions displayed on thier faces that she and her boyfriend have when he leaves. "Well, you are not alone, I know exactly what you are feeling. Its hard but hang in there!" Karen & Lee murmered thier thanks to the woman, and both chuckled on the way out. "Well its god to know we are not the only ones," Lee laughed. "What was with that" asked Karen. "Oh well just showing sympathy I guess" lee replied. Karen and Lee had thier coffee and sat for the most part in silence as they awaited Lee's boarding call. After what seemed like seconds but was a half an hour, Lee's flight began its preboarding call. Karen could not hold back the tears as they walked towards the boarding area. Lee's arm draped over Karen's shoulder pulling her in closer to him. Karen and Lee held one another in a tight embrace, before Lee turned away to check in. Karen stood there, tears streaming from her eyes, not caring that people were looking her way watched as Lee went through the gates. Karen headed to the taxi stand and the Limousine driver that had picked her and Lee up that short time ago, came over and ushered her into his car. Grateful she sat quietly in the back of the limousine as he drove her home. When Karen got home, the tears fell immediately and she lay on her bed holding Lee's T-shirt and cried herself to sleep.
