This is a poem I wrote for a friend who lost the love of her life.

DIDN'T SEE IT COMING =================== 

Every day was like Heaven 

when you held my hand 

Your gentle kiss upon my lips 

while we laid upon the sand 

I didn't see it coming 

thought we'd always be this way 

I never expected in a million years 

that you'd be taken away. 

It was a night like any other, 

but it rained for hours on end 

You were driving home from Kevin's 

Who was your very best friend 

You were racing to meet your curfew 

'cause you thought you'd get in trouble 

And you drove like a reckless madman 

put the speed limit to the double 

Things were going fine until 

you hit a patch of leaves 

You struggled to gain back control 

bet the sweat was pouring down your sleeves 

But the cruel hand of destiny came down 

and you lost the losing battle 

your car crashed head on into a tree 

the branches falling with a rattle 

They say that you died instantly 

that night you lost control 

your body stayed inside the car 

but to Heaven went your soul 

The second I heard my heart died too 

stabbed through with a thousand knives 

The feeling of terror, I couldn't explain 

through my hours of anguished cries 

I walked behind your casket 

that your closest friends did bear 

I wore that dress you always liked 

and brushed and curled my hair 

You always said I was so pretty 

But I didn't look it then 

My fists were clenched with anger 

and I was crying once again 

My heart went with you that horrible day 

they laid you in the ground 

And I hope someday when I join you in Heaven 

Happiness will be found 

But until then I'll always think 

the things that remains humming 

I never thought we'd say goodbye 

I didn't see it coming.
