Youth and friendship in the early hours. | |||
Once again we sit and talk, A shadow circle Running rings around the truth, Before we settle on the point and share The aching sighs and murmurings of youth. Thoughts that come without a fight Fill the void that lies between us As I peer through the haze of my regret, And see the melancholy joy That though I try I can never quite forget. I talk of you but mispronounce it love, A slip of tongue that fires Sparks upon the veil of my inflection. Though I strive for mediocrity With you I vow to make the one exception. No words escape this padded cell Wherein the glare of introspection, Fuels the slow ferment where dreams evolve, Before they fade in our reality To flee the coming dawn and quite dissolve. Tweet
