Friday, September 8, 2000 “I am Jack’s smirking revenge.” Narrator, Fight Club Friday. The day of temporary freedom. I wake up from the shell I call my bed and I stretch, looking forward to the end of the day. I can see the sun passing through my blinds as I open my eyes; it gives me hope that something good will happen today. This is the first day I take the bus to go to school, so my mom calls the bus depot and get the times. 7:40 or so, I call John and tell him to meet me at the stop at 7:30, and as I walk to the stop, Mike pulls up next to me, and he gets out of his moms car. We chat on the way to the stop then we see John coming down the hill. We wait, and wait, for the bus and when it comes, they get the seats and I have to stand. I was so happy for them (Note the sarcasm)! When we got to school, we waited outside for a few minutes, and then John and me decided to go to the cafeteria and pick up some food for later use. I got some Sour Power Straws and he got nothing. He bumped into a friend of his, a girl. She was really quite pretty, but she was a junior. So that was a no go. She was really mature it seemed. I doubt she smokes and she seemed very organized and in control. We then headed to our class and so went the circle of life. English, Spanish, Biology... all the classes. But in one of them, walked in a new student. Not the hottest girl, but pretty. And she sits right near me. So during our class we chitchat a little, talking about pets and whatnot. But the thing is, she was actually mature and really nice. But the darned this is, I forgot to ask her what her name was. I’ll have to remember to ask her that on Monday. At last, something to look forward to. I went to my other classes, where I got a lot of homework. Science, Spanish, Global homework. I was tired by the time I got to Gym. But I had to fill out little mini attendance cards. After that, we had to hang out on the bleachers for a period with nothing to do. I tried to sleep using my book bag as a pillow, but I couldn’t. I needed something, anything to sleep. The bell rung. I went to Word Processing class. I was so bored. ‘What programs do you know how to use?’ the teacher asked the class. ‘AOL’ most people responded. What the fuck? They think they know a lot about computers. ‘AOL’... No three letters have struck such a chord with me in a while. ‘I can send IM’s!’ so can I. ‘I can send color E-Mails!’ so can I. ‘I can send pictures through E-Mail!’ so can I. What fucking idiots. They didn’t know anything about computers. They didn’t know what IRC was; they didn’t know what FTP’s were. Heck, they don’t even know what Internet Explorer is. I wanted to just smack some of them in the face. My final class was Math. We had to take an examination that ‘doesn’t count on our average’. I probably aced it. It was very easy. The bell rung and school was over, but not my day. I met Mike and John outside of school and we headed to the bus. We got on and I finally got a seat. It was packed. We talked about computers, and movies, and Benny. Oh yeah... Benny. Benny is what Chris Farley would look like if you made him taller by about 5 inches, shave his head with almost no hair left, and gave him a dirty tan. Don’t forget to take away his good sense of humor and put in an 8 year old bullies brain. Yeah... he got hit by a car a week ago and broke his arm and received some blood clots in his head. He was in the ICU for a while, now he’s at home and has home school for about two months. That’s Benny. When I got off the bus, I walked with Marcus, who was also on the bus with me. We talked about stuff, like Benny (Yes, everyone knows about him), some girl named Jessica, and some other stuff. He went home and I walked to my house. I went to my TV, took the remote and started surfing, I settled on watching Edward Scissorhands. It really is a good movie, one of Johnny Depp’s best films. And now, by the middle of the film, my sister’s friends came over. I’m not going to tell you their names, but I got to tell you, I’ve never met such an annoying bunch. And so, I kicked them out of the house and they went walking somewhere with my sister. I know, this part of the story isn’t part of my freshman life, but I thought it would be good to note. I’m sorry this doesn’t have as much wit as my other entries, but I’m tired. So leave me alone. Tweet
