Two friends who grew up like brothers go their seperate ways thne meet up again.

When your a gunfighter you never know how long your going to live, who
the next loser who wants to gun you down is. It’s always just another
notch on your pistol. When your a gunfighter you don’t get many
friends either, at least not many you can trust. That’s true for Billy
and Jonny. Billy and Jonny grew up together, they both dreamed of
being gunfighters. When they were fifteen they started practicing
their shooting, their parents disagreed, but they never listened. When
they were seventeen they were the best shots in town. Their parents
quit arguing, they gave up all together when Billy and Jonny left home
to pursue their dream. By the time the boys were twenty-four they were
known as the best in the territory. They soon parted though, they
figured they could be known nation wide if they each went west
separately. By the time they were twenty-seven they met on the streets
of Cheyenne. They didn’t recognize each other at first in the bar.
Their names had spread across the U.S. as planned. They were better
gunmen than anyone else. They started talking in the bar, one thing led
to another and they realized who each other were, they spent all night
drinking and reminiscing. Then they realized until the other one was
gone they wouldn’t be known as individuals. Billy started mocking
Jonny and Jonny started mocking Billy. They finally made the deal to
meet in the street at noon. As they slept it went through their minds
that this was the only way. Even though they grew up as brothers, they
couldn’t let each other stay alive. Noon came soon the next day, Billy
and Jonny met out on the street, one watching the other, neither one
drawing first, yet neither moving their hands from their guns. Finally
Billy said, “I can’t do this.” Jonny stopped confused. Billy took his
guns by the handles and threw them to the ground. “Pick them up.”
Jonny shouted. Billy didn’t move. Jonny drew his guns, “Pick them
up.” Billy’s hand went to his back, pulled out a gun and shot his
former best friend. Jonny looked up at Billy. “You were never going
to shoot me.” Billy said, then his eyes went wide as Jonny took his
last breath, he put a knife through his friends chest. Billy stood up,
removed the knife, and fell beside Jonny.
