This little poem was written just prior to a visit to a literary agent on behalf of a dear friend and talented author.

A  POEM  FOR  ME !
 
Dear Bard, please write a poem for me 
and tell me sure and honestly 
about ordeals we have been through 
and special times between us too! 
 
Recall the day you finally ceased 
the writing of your masterpiece! 
Remind me of the talks we shared 
when to each other souls we bared. 
 
Envision manuscripts of past 
in volumes bound and selling fast. 
Explain to me how you will be 
if fame becomes your destiny. 
 
Will you remember I am true 
or finally discard the old shoe? 
Will cash and wealth go to your head, 
or will you stay unchanged instead? 
 
You see dear author, why I ask, 
is I intend to to take the task 
and never let it out of sight 
until your work is published right! 
 
It came to me though, what if when 
that happens and I lose my friend? 
Shall I get lost within the dust 
of your success and lose your trust? 
 
On me will you then turn your back 
and walk away with baggage packed, 
to parts and people now unknown 
and feel with me you have not grown? 
 
I hope that you will see your way 
and think about what you will say. 
I have concern as you can see.
