CHAPTER EIGHT THE FINAL SHOWDOWN Three years after Brenda's first frightening experience with a young stalker, she arrived once more at the camp. She was now eighteen and full of spirit and only occasionally had a nightmare of the going-ons that happened several years ago. Camp was also bad because she had once had a best friend named Jack. The two had split up and Jack had then died at camp along with another friend, Tonya. That had happened only a year ago and the memory was still fresh in her mind and heart. She jumped off the bus and ran a tan hand through short, wavy, brown hair. She gazed around with toothy smile lighting up her pretty face. She saw Tyson helping a kid unload a suitcase but he no longer mattered. She almost laughed when he nearly dropped the suitcase into the snow. She had thought she had been in love with him but that was all past, even though she would jump on a second chance to be with him again. She saw Jesse lugging a huge duffel bag up a hill and she saw Michelle carrying a little girl about a year old and wrapping one hand around a tall man's waist. Those were the only three people she knew. The spark that had been bright in her baby blue eyes dimmed and her clear eyes seemed to become cloudy. She picked up her suitcase and pulled out her schedule. She had the same cabin as she had the last time she was here. She trudged slowly up the hill with her heavy load. She saw a tall brunette guy walk past her and when he looked at her, he had the bluest eyes in the world but they were a cold blue. She actually shivered for she felt something like hate vibrated from that guy to her and it scared her. She finally just pushed it out of her mind and continued on her way. She arrived at her cabin and she pushed open the door. She was met by the chilling scent of roses and her heart felt as if it had stopped. She peeked in and saw a little red head girl rubbing rose lotion onto her hands. Brenda sighed in relief and saw with shock that her old bunk was even open. She set her stuff on it and remembered a time long ago. "A young Jack of about eight years old sat on the top bunk swinging her legs next to Brenda's eight year old legs. A ten year old Michelle sat across from them with a nine year old Amanda and eight year old Beverly sitting on either side of her. Underneath them, an eleven-year-old Elyse was pulling stuffed animals out of her bag. "Who do you think I am going to beat tonight with my tiger?" Michelle asked. "My tiger," Elyse's voice floated out from underneath the bunk. "Sorry. Who do you think I am going to beat with Elyse's tiger?" Michelle corrected herself. "I don't know," Amanda giggled. "Well like duh, that cute guy, Jonathon," Michelle laughed. "Eew, Jonathon, cute?" Brenda faked gagging. "Oh who are you going to beat on with your giant teddy bear?" Michelle wanted to know after throwing a pillow at her. "Tyson, he's the only one I would consider," Brenda sighed dreamily. "Tyson is cute but he is going to bother that girl, Andrea. He likes her," Elyse informed her. "I know but maybe tonight I can make him notice me as more than a friend," Brenda insisted. "Yeah right, Tyson is too stupid to notice," Jack announced. "He is," Beverly and Amanda agreed. "Well, so what?" Brenda inquired. "I just suggest another guy who would be smart enough to like you," Click here to read the rest of this story (759 more lines)
