Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story Sarah arrived home. She was in tears making her way into the house. ‘What's wrong?' her mum asked with one of those sympathetic expressions a mother gives to her daughter when she knows something is very wrong. ‘It's him,' she replied, wiping away the tears with a tissue she had just got out of her jacket pocket. ‘Boyfriend trouble, is it?' ‘Worse than that, mum. It is that horrible boss of mine. He is the one who drove that car straight into the puddle.' ‘He seemed all right on the phone.' ‘That wasn't him you spoke to, that was his uncle.' Later, Sarah made herself something to eat. Her mum had gone out to the shops, and while Sarah was eating her meal, there came a knock at the door. ‘What do you want?' she said to the caller as soon as she opened the door. ‘I've come to apologise, and the job is still open if you are interested?' ‘Are you winding me up? Nobody speaks to me like that and gets away with it. You understand?' ‘OK,' he said just before he went to walk away. ‘But if you change your mind, let me know?' ‘Sarah slammed the door shut and went back into the dining room to finish her meal, but then her mind started to wander - had she made the right decision turning that job down? Jobs didn't exactly grow on trees and it took her ages to find that one, plus the money was good, and she needed money - to buy clothes, and she desperately need a new phone; the one she had at present was archaic to say the least. So, after eating her lunch, she slipped on jacket and made her way to the bus stop. ‘Changed your mind, have you?' she heard as she stood inside the office at the factory she had walked out of just a few hours before. ‘Don't push it,' she replied with calm etched on her face. ‘So what are my duties?' When Sarah had finished her first day at work, she made her way to the bus stop, but as she waited, a car pulled up. ‘Taking up stalking me now, have you?' she said to the driver. ‘Hop in. I'll give you a lift home.' The car pulled up outside Sarah's house, but before she got out of the car, he turned towards her and said: ‘Are you busy tonight?' ‘I'm washing my hair,' she replied, knowing full well that he was going to ask her out. ‘What about tomorrow night?' ‘I'm washing it again.' ‘Ok,' he said. I know when I'm wasting my time.' But as soon as Sarah got out of the car, she popped her head through the car door window. ‘You can pick me up at about seven if you want? And don't be late, or I'll throw a bucket of water over you, and then you'll know what it is like to get a good soaking.' Then she calmly walked towards her front door with a big smile on her face.
