PART 2 - CH 6 | |||
SIX Miller sighed contentedly and lay back in the warm bath. He reached out now and again to soap himself with some fragrant oils then tiring of the effort, lay back down. He'd declined the offer of the young woman Kol had made to help him relax, preferring to lie in the bath awhile with the thought of a Dreamtab at the back of his mind. Kol had given them the rest of the night off while he came up with a second game to decide their fate. Kane, Muslik and Corthan were away burying Sinto whilst he, Talis and Blaze were locked in their rooms as hostages to make sure they returned. Miller sniggered as he thought about it. Holding Blaze hostage! The little bugger would be out the room before the fucking door was locked! He was still sniggering to himself when a large hand appeared before his face and clamped over his mouth. ***** Kane shovelled some more dirt over his shoulder then inspected the grave from his end. “That's deep enough, Corthan,” he said and climbed out. He reached back down and gave him a hand out. They inspected their work as Muslik looked on amused, puffing away on his pipe whilst sitting on the body bag. “Okay,” said Kane, “let's bury him.” Muslik stood up and Corthan picked up the body bag easily with one hand. He dumped it unceremoniously into the grave. “Looks like Sinto lost a lot of weight since he died,” Muslik remarked. Kane grinned. “Yeah, maybe it was through that arrow hole in his back,” he said. They shovelled the dirt back in on top of the body for a few minutes then patted the ground flat. “I'd just like to say a few words for our departed brother,” Muslik said, standing at the head of the grave and putting both hands together, priest like. “Good luck to you, Sinto, wherever you are now. Thank you, Sark, for kindly providing this body and thank you, Blaze, for bringing the body to us. Amen.” Kane laughed. Corthan grinned. “Remember we don't mention this back on the Falcon,” Kane said as they walked away. “That bastard Tyler has hidden cameras everywhere.” “Agreed,” said Muslik. “And we don't mention it in front of Talis either,” he went on, looking at Kane. “Despite how interesting we find her.” “Point taken,” Kane said, grinning. “I'll have a word with Blaze later,” said Corthan. “Tell to him to keep quiet about it.” As they strolled back to the building Kol had allocated to them they could see their Ship off in the distance under powerful lights with small black figures which were Technicians scurrying in and out of it. “You're certain what that mad bastard Kol's up to?” Kane asked Muslik. Muslik nodded. “Absolutely,” he said. “I've been inside his head several times and he hasn't changed anything.” Click here to read the rest of this story (88 more lines)
