A story on Hawaiian chilli sauce | |||
Run Ran Ran Subba Rao “Say your name again?” Juggernaut wants to make sure he heard it right. “Ran, like running,” the fellow showed hand movements as if he was running for emphasis. “How anybody can name Ran to their son?” Ran shrugged his shoulders as if it was not a big deal or unusual to have a name like Ran. Ran was in thirties with curly long black hair with a mischievous face. On the very first meeting he hugged Juggernaut several times saying “I love you man, I love everything on the earth, people, animals, trees and the ocean.” There is some serenity and godliness when he spoke. Ran was a nature lover living on an organic farm on the island. One day he brought a bottle of hot sauce to Juggernaut. “You made this?” asked Juggernaut. “Yes, I made from the Hawaiian hot chilies crushed with few onions, carrots, with little of apple sauce and vinegar.” “It tastes so good, you should make more and sell it in the local Farmer's market with a fancy name,” suggested Juggernaut. “Well you name it,” Ran looked at Juggernaut for a clue. “How about ‘Kaaram Karma.' “I love it, it has a rhythm but what it means?” “Well, kaaram means hotness from chilies and karma here meant deserving,” Juggernaut looked surprised himself for making up instantly a name like that. “I have to run,” said Ran “Why?” “I hear the angels calling me.” “Right now?” “Yes, I can hear them.” “Let the angels help you to make more culinary inventions like your hot chilly sauce,” said Juggernaut licking the hot spicy chili sauce thanks to his own good karma.
