Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story cry like a child and wonder why people would treat her so bad. After numerous fights with Jack, Jenny had him arrested for assault and he spent some time in jail. Jenny still drank excessively after he left. She would go back to the bars and pick up men, she was acting like a mixed up teenager. Jenny once spent time in jail for hitting a police officer. She told Ruth one evening she was pretty well intoxicated and was standing in traffic swinging her coat over her head. When the police come to move her out of the traffic she hit one of them and was arrested. It was so hard for Jenny living in a supposedly normal society while having so many problems; she was on disability because of her mental condition. Ruth would see a social worker come by now and then to see how she was doing. Jenny once asked Ruth to take her to the bank, and she started to talk about a daughter that was taken from her by her ex husband who said she wasn't able to take proper care of her. Her daughter who was fourteen had come to visit her mother once while Ruth lived there. She was very pretty like her mom. I could tell she knew her mom had problems, but she loved her anyway. Just as things were quieting down two new families moved into the apartment building that had some bratty kits, which ran over everything and made a lot of noise. Jenny had found some lilies behind the apartment building and came carrying them so tenderly and telling Ruth how beautiful they were. Joy planted them in the front flowerbed, and the next morning they were trampled flat. Jenny was so upset when she saw her lilies. Jennny was smart and talented, but society didn't like the way she acted. A lot of people with mental disorders are pushed out into the mainstream to sink or swim. That can be so hard for them to interact with people unlike themselves. She was eventually put out of her apartment because of complaints from the neighbors. Ruth heard later that Jenny was put in another apartment up the street from where she did live. Ruth had moved out of state for a year. After she returned one day she was reading the local newspaper, and she read that Jenny had been severly beaten and was in the hospital. Ruth had started working in a retail store and she saw Jenny's friend Jack in the store. Ruth asked him how Jenny was doing and she told him what she had read in the paper. Jack told Ruth the police thought he did it and had a Dna test done to prove he didn't do it. He told Ruth that Jenny didn't remember who beat her up. It seems so sad people like Jenny are not well enough to keep out of danger. Ruth told Jack she hoped and prayed everything works out for Jenny. Tweet
