Continuing my opinion on the election. Thanks to the person who sent me an email on this. You may be right, but let me delusional a while ;o). | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story shocks the conscience. From the unilateral decision to rush to a preemptive war without allowing the inspectors to finish their work or waiting for diplomacy to run its course; to the failure to send enough troops or provide proper equipment for them; to the denial of a rising insurgency and the failure to adjust the military strategy; to continued support for a government unwilling to make the necessary political compromises; to the adherence to a broken policy more than four years after the invasion began.”-Hillary Clinton speaking in Des Moines July 10, 2007 (Yet she still voted for the war at the time!) The Problem The Surge: The goal of the surge was to create space for Iraq's political leaders to reach an agreement to end Iraq's civil war. At great cost, our troops have helped reduce violence in some areas of Iraq, but even those reductions do not get us below the unsustainable levels of violence of mid-2006. Moreover, Iraq's political leaders have made no progress in resolving the political differences at the heart of their civil war. Military Strain: The military is being severely strained by repeated and lengthy deployments. The Army and Marine Corps are facing a crisis as 40 percent of their equipment either is in Iraq or being repaired. This crisis has led many of our generals to conclude that current demands make our forces unable to rapidly respond to the contingencies we may face in the future. Again Barack outlines his plan for all to see. Hillary hides hers in a mass of junk on her page. Though I will say, it was easier to find than some other issues. Makes me wonder if she is smart enough to realize America is going to look to the next President to get our troops home as quickly as possible. People. We have to start rebuilding our country before we lose sight of what our ancestors have built. We are a free nation, under God, indivisible, and we have the right to the pursuit of happiness. If we don't get this country back to something of what it was, what are we going to go? Where are we headed if we can't fix what is wrong? How can we survive if we become disjointed and torn apart? America was founded on religion. What happened? We have destroyed it. No religion is what it was because we have strayed from the topic. People are so afraid to stand up for Christ. Look at Romney! Everyone made an issue of his stand on being Mormon. Why? Because they didn't understand it, they lashed out. Instead of listening to the man, they ridiculed his religion and said they didn't want that in the White House. Barack has been made an issue out of his parents being Muslim. Why? In a day and age where we are supposed to be understanding, forgiving, and respectful we lash out because someone isn't just like us. Do you not understand everyone is an individual for a reason? Have we not seen other countries go to war because of a unified religion? What was 9/11 about if not religion? You can call it terrorism all you want. But 9/11 was a religious act against our country in one man's mind. He did something he felt God was telling him to do. However wrong it was, he felt led to do it. Again, Barack has made it easy to find his take on the issue. No where can I find anything Hillary has said on the subject. I don't even know what her religion is. Does anyone? Maybe it's because he was called onto the carpet. Maybe it's because he feels so strongly about his faith. Maybe he just wanted to take a stand. Which no Democrat has done before to my limited knowledge. Maybe it's because this is what he's most passionate about. Maybe it's because it really is important to him. I don't know why Barack has chosen to take a stand on religion, but I so commend him for it! What more could we hope for in a President than someone who is so faithful in his love for Christ? Who since JFK's stand on Catholicism has done what Barack has done? There's a speech Barack gave telling of his stand. There's so much information it would take too long to copy and paste everything. The whole speech is outstanding. But, so you won't get bored with me, I'm just going to put up a link to it. http://www.barackobama.com/2006/06/28/call_to_renewal_keynote_address.ph p. Please, I beg you read this speech. You will see why I stand behind t his man. If religion is as important as people are making it out to be which would be best? Someone who takes a stand and may offend many because of his beliefs? Or a woman who couldn't care less about religion because no one can find a link to anything she's said on the issue? A woman who slings mud at everyone else but doesn't take responsibility for her own actions? A woman who is a hypocrite in everything she says so much you don't know when she's running from the issue or taking a stand on it? A woman who will talk about gay rights and abortion, but not religion? A man who is willing to risk everything for his religion? Or a woman who's hiding what she believes in until after she gets into the White House? Two men have been ridiculed for their faith in this election. Both have taken a stand on it. They didn't back down and say nothing. They stood up for Christ and their beliefs. Both would have made great Presidents. And they weren't even in the same party! I don't know whom God would vote for. No one does and it's stupid to say He wouldn't vote for one of these men. God doesn't play favorites. His love is unconditional. His grace is amazing. His mercy is wonderful. His spirit is divine. His presence can be felt in the world today. He is with us and will always be seen in everything we do and say. He died for us all. What does He want for us? Listen to your heart and you'll find the answers. He doesn't look at your race, creed, political standing, or any of the other mess we like to give labels for. He looks at the heart and soul. Why can't we do that when we take that ballot and cast that vote? I've asked for you to use your head. I've said not to go with your heart. I was wrong! You have to use both. Ask your head who is the best person for this important job. Ask your head who would be the best person to move our country forward. Ask your head if the person you're choosing the right person for everyone or just for a few. Then ask your heart what you believe in. Ask your heart if you can take the repercussions from the decision your head is trying to make. Ask your heart can we stand four years with someone who doesn't stand up for what they believe in. Ask your heart if we can stand someone who bites at people instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. Then pray about it. I begged you to make the right decision. Our country needs to recover. It can't do that without the right person in office. © February 21, 2008 by Lori D. L. Tweet
