Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story the people that was with the man that comes up missing reported that his friend had set some drop lines in the near by stream and went late to check them to see if he had caught any fish. They waited for his return according to their story, and he never showed back up, and they left that next morning and reported him missing, then the search was on folks from residing country help in the search , but he was never found. That haunted me thinking about what had happen right in the same woods we were now in, suddenly we both heard a loud thump , it almost sounded like some one using and ax to chop down a tree, this place was giving both of us the creeps, and it was getting no better, fear is a terrible thing to deal with , but fear is natural something God give ever man for his survival , 0ur camp fire had been drenched by the heavy rain, the total darkness and the storm had really made this night bad and hampered us seeing what was going on around us, what ever was out their new exactly where we was at , really we was helpless in a way , I feared what ever it was might attack us or something, we both were alert to that fact and kept the knives and the rifle in our hands. The darn booger wants get me without a fight Frankie said”me to I whispered, we both set looking our tent window watching for anything that might be approaching. Another storm was brewing we could hear the thunder from a distance, the rain of the previous storms was coming down hard, ever things seem to be going against us from ever angle. We discussed just leaving every thing behind all our camping supplies and trying to walk out of here with a dim flash light but voted against that , because of the rain and storms that was making this scarey night miserable for the two of us.. The new storm began right behind the first one this one brought heavy gust of wind driven rain, the thunder made us jump at the large claps of thunder, what a night to recall im thinking that is if we too make it out of these wood alive that is.. All the old scarey haunt tales were coming back to my mind that I had heard as a young boy growing up here , Grandad had told many a tale about this part of the woods and how he had been spooked on several occasions during his young day of camping and coon hunting , oh how I wished we had never come camping tonight not listening to the weather reports was our first big mistake. Another loud noise busted out even louder that the thunder claps . Terrifying Loud deep course growls were coming from near by our camping area, this was getting under our skins and we really did not know what move to make, but to set quiet and listen. And just hope that whatever was making this noise left us alone, something was certainly strange about this all , what in the world was this making all these noises, Frankie kept the rifle clutched to his hand , I could tell he was expecting trouble , and I was too, the storm finely blew it self out and the winds calmed and the rain quit , now might me a good time to make a run for it , but we had ten miles of nothing but thick woods that had bluffs and high ridges that a person could fall off in the night without proper lighting, I asked Frankie what he wanted to do and he said let get out of this cursed place and leave all our camping stuff and come back to get it all later in the day light. So we hurried out of the tent and I walked in front and carried the rifle and Frankie carried the flashlight behind, the wood was wetting us with the leaves dripping from all the rain, we both become dripping wet before to long, then we got to hearing something following us , it was breaking sticks and thrashing around , and following us . When we would stop, it would stop, that was what was bothering me . It was as if it was taunting us for the kill, something told me in my mind that we needed to keep moving and not to stop , the feeling of something watching our ever step was in the air , we were being stalked like wild prey would be stalked in the jungle by a lion, fear was creeping and setting in, we were both feeling the need to run , but new better somehow , I felt if we began running in panic that we most likely might run off a bluff and be killed by the fall , the night was cloudy and we were just more less feeling our self along threw the dense woods, It become apparent that we were in serious trouble , and I had tried to think what we might do to avoid being killed by something that we both never had a idea what was after us , if it was a animal we might of been able to shot it with the rife and wound it and cause to go away, but I fear this was some sort of a demon from the old haunted house , we were warned many times that the old place was haunted and not to ever go near the old abandoned spooky place, but we never listen as young would do and thought it was just old spook stories that people had make up about the old house for many years as it stood deep in the woods.. Frankie was getting tired he breathing was getting harder we were both not so use to fast walking especially on rain soaked soggy wood ground.. Ten miles is a long way and we headed north which would lead us to the main road where my truck was parked, it must of taken us five full hours of hard walking and it was near full light when we got to the main road and found my truck. All the way the thing followed us when we would stop it would stop ,several times we took rest and once I shine the light on some fiery eyes and they vanished at the second the flashlight hit them, me and Frankie got in my truck and we shook hands on that we would never be caught in them woods camping again, we both are old guys now with wives and family , but one thing we have vowed and still keep that we will never let night fall ever ketch us in the wood where the old haunted house still stands for the most part its about fallen down and near rotten but the old rock stone chimney will remain , and always remind us of the old abandoned haunted house..
