A man rises and continues to work at writing...inspired by the idea she will come...if the light is on. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story Night approaches from behind. Perfume warmth sits close by, arms under folded legs, chin resting on cushioned knees. One day the world falters and life has never been the same. Every perception seen differently...in fact he wonders if the world will ever reveal the answers he seeks. He knows fear is less with her at his side. Darkness closes in, attempting to cover them. “Shall I light a candle, Tom?” He hears. “I think that would be nice.” He says, picking a box of matches out of the desk drawer. The candle glows in the window, yellow. “Stay away, be safe.” It might shine. He pours a favorite pinot into two glasses. “How's it going, Tom?” He hears the question and smiles. Deeply sank into his chair, he sighs heavily, and holds his glass up to the ocean. “I'm difficult, aren't I, the way I live my life, the way I accept how my life must be with you...and for what, because I need to know; I just need to know, and I'm not sure what it is I want to know anymore? The feeling that an idea might never happen is the most fearful thing I can imagine, for there is no one to fight, nothing to experience, nothing to me. I'm just glad with all my heart that I live the life I do, for my quiet life, finally, and for being a writer.” Some lighthouses shine out a different message. Some lights call: “I'm here, this way.” Tweet
