Emily makes a wish for the beautiful red shoes she has seen at Bexler's Shoe Store. When they mysteriously show up in her closet, did her wish come true? Another bedtime story from Rosie. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story Emily stood frozen. What a surprise! When she could finally speak she said, “But Mama, don’t we always buy one pair at a time—the sensible ones for growing feet?” “True enough, Em. But when I went back to the shoe store this morning, Mr. Bexler said the sensible shoes were on sale, so I got them at half-price.” “But what about the red shoes, Mama?” Mama was chuckling by then. “Well, it turns out they were the last pair left, so Mr. Bexler sold them to me for half-price too. We got quite a bargain—two pairs of shoes for the price of one.” Then, a little more sternly, she added. “But remember, sweetheart, the red shoes are for Sundays and dress-up occasions only.” Well, that was just fine with Emily. “You’re the best mom in the world,” she cried, giving Mama a hug. Then she scooped up both pairs and skipped off to her room. Gently, she closed the door behind her. It all made perfect sense. But then again, oh, how hard she had wished! The red shoes were truly magical, she simply decided—and that’s all there was to it. Tweet
