Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story have 5 Dirham let's buy something!!” we bough 1liter of milk and one piece of bread and we slept .To tell the truth, we didn't sleep that night. We realized how scary out side home it is! Soon, we couldn't resist and we slept. Someone is waking me up with a warm voice. I was half sleep “Mother! Just 2 minutes”. Soon, I realized that we are out side home and I opened widely my eyes calling my sister “Nada finek?!!” She said “I'm here! Don't worry” she was eating and I turned quickly to see who was waking me up and she was an old lady with a friendly face trying me feed me up. I refused and she calmed me down and asked me to eat as my sister is eating too! While eating, she was asking us “where are your parent?! You don't look as the arrant. Your clothes are clean and it seems to me that you lost your way am I wrong?” “Ah.....” “Our parents died in an accident and we are from Sale. someone have bring us yesterday morning” I stopped my sister before she started speaking as if we told this woman that our parents are alive and we live here, she will surly bring us home. “Ok then. Can you tell me where your grand mother or one of your relative lives?!!” “No madam we don't know. we are still young and we can't remember exactly!!” “Okay, you are going to stay with me for a while until I find out a way to know your identity” I whispered to my sister while following the lady “I told you that our God will help us to find a shelter” “next time don't lie” “what!!!?” “You lied to the lady!!” “Yes if....” “Here we are!! This is your home until we find your parents kids” she said. She lives alone in a big home with her husband. “Nice house madam!” I said “son don't call me Madam, they call me in the neighbourhood El Haja; call me so” I knew that I'm going to like this woman and I knew that my life is about to change. She gave us a large room for me and my sister. There was a disk in the corner and another one is the other side. Two beds for me and my sister, and a large window that looks over the garden “at last there is no noise!! Hu! Nada?” “yeap!”. “kids go upstairs and have a shower and come for lunch after 2 hours. We are leaving home at 6 pm so relax and watch cartoons in your room, okay?!” “yes Khalti El Haja!” “WOW Nada we have a TV in our room” that's great” I doubted whether this lady has children or not, but anyway I knew that this room is ours. we did what she asked us. For the bath room, it was in my favourite colour “white” and with a modern bath. Everything was in marble which gives the place a natural light and spiritual tranquillity. Two hours later, we were at lunch, the table was full of fruits which some of them haven't see before. Nada was nervous and shy as we were at the table, me too! We weren't courage enough to eat as we are home. We felt strangers, but El Haja was so kind and tender that we felt home and we started eating politely. While chewing, I looked quickly and constantly to her and she has a lighted face and I associated that with her nickname “El Haja” which means the pilgrim. Once, my mother told me that persons who go to the holy place “Makka” they come back with a lighted face, full of believe in God and love to anyone on earth especially children. I think that this is why this woman wanted to bring us help because God orders Muslim people to help anyone who needs help and even if they don't ask for...Muslim people feels the need of the others without saying a word. Once we finish lunch, we went to our room “Amine! We can't trust anyone like that! Do you remember what our mother told us?” “Yes, yes, yes! Don't trust anyone starger, but wait Nada! Do you have an alternative?” “mumm....No!” “So shut up and thank ALLAH that we found this opportunity, others like us don't have” “hey! Don't be so happy because at 8 pm you are going to be home!” “what?!” “Don't you understand?! She is going to take us to the police at 6 pm to look for our parents and if they were informed of our escape from home, we will be soon at home?!” “Yes, you are right! And for the first time!!” “What!!?” “I am kidding with you!” “AHA!!! Don't”. We watch TV and we soon slept. At 5 pm, El Haja knocked at the door and came in and gave us a gift! “These are for you both, wear them and let's go!” “Thank you so much Khalti El Haja” “Not at all! You have to think God” “yes, Khalti El HamdoliLAH”. We wore them and as we are twins, Nada is my mirror and I'm her “Nice dress Nada you look pretty with it” “thanks brother, you too”. We went happily, but as we got closer to the police office, we got nervous. I tightly handed my sister's hand and my sister was shaking by fear. Once we are in the police office, El Haja stared explaining to the policeman how she found us and what information she had about us, then our turn came. I was about to fall down even if I am not a murder and that they are there to help me, only the word of the “policeman” makes our dreams nightmares. He was so kind to us-obviously because we are kids- “ what is your name?” “My name is Amine and this is Nada my sister and we are twins” “Mum...and what about your last name Nada?” I prayed that she doesn't told him our real name “Our last name is.....Salawi” I was about to laugh, she was so intelligent and she miss leaded the policeman who said “mumm....apparently no one up to now came to declare disappearance of kids have this name except a couple who seems losing their kids and strangely are called Amine and Nada El Khabazi!! Anyway, we are going to keep them here until we s..........” No! No! No! I can't believe it I feel that I'm going to vomit by fear and sadness. My sister started crying and me also and we tightly catch the woman's clothes “ don't leave us Madam here! Please! We beg you! Please! Please! Please” “ the woman get closer to us and she said “ children! I can't do anything...they are the authority here and I have no power over them!” then, the policeman looked deeply as if he was thinking and declared “Madam! Do you have your identity card” she replied “yes, why for?” “I'm going to write down your address and you can take the kids until we get any news or we have a solution to their problem” finally, a relief! Oufff! We came back home and still screamming « we passed by a supermarket “let's buy candies!” El Haja said .I love chocolate and my sister too. We were asked to take what ever we want. It was our heaven. I took candies and chocolates and what even I found delicious and Nada carried cakes and chocolates too. We came home happy and we took our dinner and went to our room. The light was off and we didn't sleep, but we started talking. “ Good job Nada!” “What!!” “You gave a wrong name” “Ahh....do you think that I'm stupid? Do you forget that I'm your twin and so, if you were stupid, I'm stupid too!! See!” “Ha,Ha...funny!...seriously, tomorrow they are going to take us back to our parents and I don't want to go there. We are going to be punished” “me too brother”. We started thinking, but with no result and soon we gave up to sleep. Tomorrow morning after getting our breakfast, El Haja asked us to go and play outside. Nada went and soon I've heard her noise and it seems that she found new friends and that she was playing her favourite game “hide and seek” I stayed at home because I wanted to see my favourite cartoon “ the mask” later, someone was knocking. El Haja opened the door and he was a policeman. She called my sister and me and she asked us to dress up quickly and we did and our eyes dropped tears. We get in his car and we went away from Dar El Haja. He directly bring us to a big house bigger than El haja's house and full of kid and there was a director the one who wrote down our names and women and men dressed us like teachers waiting for us they showed us our beds and there was not only our beds but also the other kids bed. The policeman went and we didn't know what was this place and what are we going to do here. We regret having run away from home. We ate the dinner together with the other kids and we slept together with them in the same room. The women and men we've saw were all the time looking after us and keeping an eye on us. In Saturday and Sunday most of the kids go to see their parents and the others were orphans. I realized it later when the director calls us and told us that the policeman had informed him that our parents had come looking for us and with the help of our pictures, they knew that we've lied to them. I don't know why he didn't take us to our home! The answer was so hard for us both “your mother was ill and she died and your father lost his reason and he is wandering in the street as he lost everything Job, kids and his wife” I kept asking “dying! What does it mean dying?!” “She is gone!? But we left her alive?! I am confused I don't know what is going on! We didn't expect that all of this happened. We are partly the cause of our mother's death. Maybe she died of sadness and maybe our father became fool because he was looking for us and .... We didn't stop crying for three days “we are the responsible!” “We shouldn't have leaved the house” “what are we going to do now?” Blame and regret this is what was going around in my brain. I couldn't sleep neither my sister. The following night, after 3 nights, someone whispered to me. “Peps! Peps!” I turned myself on my bed to see who was calling me. He was a brown boy about 11 years old and was meagre. On his face features of tiredness. “Yes! Are you calling me!?” I said. He replied “yes, I've piece of news to you and your sister” “what is it?!” “I've heard that next Sunday your sister is going to leave this orphanage alone to another one which is reserved for girls; as you see, here! No girl is allowed....this is the rule in here!” Great! In spite of decreasing my sadness, he aggravated it!! “Oh my God!” I turned to the other side of my bed to make sure that my sister is sleeping “Thanks God, she was” “I can't be separated from my sister. She is the only one I have now!!” what trouble have we made “thanks friend .I'll think about a solution” He said “you know Amine! You r lucky .....” he stopped for a while as if he regretted saying it. He took a deep breath and then he continued “I have no sister and no parent and if I were you, I wouldn't have escaped from home even if we were poor because if you believe in God you have nothing to be afraid of even poverty. If you have parents who love you and care about you, you have the whole world you know! For me, I haven't seen even my parents or even know them and I wish one day they'll come and asks me to go with them to our home, home! Home! It's the sweetest word in the world, Amine you had the occasion to say father! Mother, I haven't! Because, simply, I am a waif. They told me that someone have putted me in front of this orphanage in a box of cane!!....can you see how lucky you are!!” his eyes were full of tears and mine too because I sympathies with him and also because he was write in every word he said. He was wiser than me because life school has teaches him a lot about patience and love...then he continued “but my life is not as bad as you think!” he said and his face changed to a little bite excite and happiness and I knew that he is about to say, at last, something happier “you know Amine! Each Saturday, a nice woman; we call her mother; comes and take waifs from here to her house and she takes a good care of us and she is so nice and we have always consider her as our mother and she helped a lot of children here either to find their parents or to help financially the children's parents ..... mmummmm....I have an idea Amine why not asking her next Saturday to help you and your sister to stay together?!!” I wasn't so exited and I say “okay! I'll try to see” deep inside my heart I know that rules are rules and nothing could be done, but even if there is no problem in trying” Three days have passed. Sunday morning I was wearing my clothes to have my breakfast and Mohammed was besides me wearing his clothes while my sister was taking her breakfast down stairs. The supervisors were hurrying us up as we were lat for breakfast. We went down running to see who is going to site down on his chair the first. Mohammed was so happy that day and me too...then the supervisors asked us to stand up all to say “Good morning to the visitor” “Oh my God! That woman! I can't believe it!” my sister and I said. Mohammed said to us “Do you know her!?” “How can't we! She is El Haja the woman who took care of us when we run away from home and she was so nice to us” once she saw us, she was surprise too and she asked us to go with the other children. I can't tell you how happy I was to see someone who I know in this orphanage. I went quickly and bring some clothes to spend the weak end with her and return and my sister and I were the first who have finished. She was standing there smiling to us for a while and expecting for the others another while. Once we are home, I explained for her everything and at once she called the director of the orphanage asking him about the rules there and it was true, after that she arranged a meeting the following day to talk with him about our issue. I was so optimistic and I knew that the niceness of this woman won't let us down. Oh! I forget to tell you how surprised my sister was. She was about to kill me since I didn't told her about it before “how dare you! I am your sister. Why didn't you tell me?!!” and she started crying, but soon she stopped as the problem have been solved. The following day, El Haja took us to the orphanage to meet the director. He asked us whether we like living with El Haja or not. We replied “yes, of course we do!” and then asked us to go out for a while to speak with El Haja. We were waiting and each one of us was so quite and calm because we were thinking. Our destiny is about to change whether here orphan or adopted....we pray and pray all alone 3 hours and then the news. She gave us a big huge and at late we were adopted. Now along, she is our new mother ....”Oh! My God Thanks a lot!” Nada and me didn't stop saying “El Hamdo Li LAH” “thanks God” you can't imagine how happy we were and from now along, Me and my sister won't be separated for ever. El Haja was a woman of beliefs and she believes a lot in God and she took care of us as our mother. We were back to school again and in parallel we went each holiday or free time to “Dar El Qu'ran” where we learn about our religion and I knew that lying is forbidden in our religion and I regretted having lying to El Haja and to the police man that day and we learnt also that children shouldn't trouble their parents otherwise god will be angry and we won't enter heaven if we didn't ask God and our parents for forgiveness and I regretted having disobeying my parents and cause them trouble and we asked God for forgiveness and mercy for our dead mother and absolution for our poor father....Now, me and my sister pray and go to the university. I am planning to be a doctor and my sister is planning to be a teacher and we both aim to help people as our God helped us to find a shelter after what we have done to our parents....This story can happen to anyone and everywhere, but what I aimed for is that you get something from it that would change your mind from now on and would help other people....it is not real, but as I said it can happen to anyone......
