the hospital. The Brook family, went back to unpacking there belongings
into this so called “Haunted House.” “Sarah come here look at this”
Jake yelled to his sister “Cool, what is it?” she replied amazed
looking at a small panel in the middle of the room. As Jake pulled away
at the opening in the floor boards, the room started to get colder and
colder. So cold, in fact, that they started to shiver and the windows
even fogged up. Being kids they payed no attention to it, but when they
heard something slowly and steadily coming up the stairs they snapped
back into reality and noticed they'd been shivering from the cold. As
they replace the hole, the sound of footsteps got louder and louder, as
Jake and his sister both turn around to look at the stairs. As the
figures shadow casts on the wall, it walks towards his room, as the
figure walks through the door. Jake and his sister both scream.
“AHHHHHHH” they scream as loudly as they could “WHAT are you doing?”
screams their mother, appearing out of the shadows. “Sorry you scared
us” Jake replied, half out of breath, his sister still struggling for
breath.

There are signs that the powerful wizard that lived here hid away his
most pride and most feared objects in his room. Some say that he buried
his manuscripts of his work there, others say his spirit still resides
there. We will never be sure, but the gruesome crimes he committed
shall never stop for time.

“You two, it's late, it's bed time” mother said. “Awww but mum” they
moaned, but she stood up straight and said “Don't Awww but mum me, I'm
very tired and I don't need you two making more noise for me to try and
sleep through. So off to bed.” Jake crawled slowly into his bed and
eventually the house became silent. Jake started to dream a terrible
dream; he is a wizard, frightened and scared being chased by someone,
but who? A loud scream and he wakes up jumping in his bed. He hears two
people whispering, one has a low husky voice, and the other has a sort
of high pitched voice. “He's the one” whispered the husky voice, “Does
he retain any knowledge of the Ethril Guard?” the voice asked. “I'm not
sure. We will have to test him, but he is the one” he stated, “We shall
see, he is awfully young for a being of such power.” Jake hears someone
walk towards him slowly, it touches his arm and lifts it up twisting
it. Showing Jake's birthmark “It's the symbol of the Ethril Guard.” He
IS the one the husky voice said. “We shall see, in good time” she
stated. “Sarah that's not funny, your starting to scare me” Jake yells
out into the dark he reaches and turns on the light and the light
reveals nothing but a room, a room full of boxes and a covered hole in
the planks. He climbs out of bed and walks over to the hole and lifts
up the planks, he finds a piece of parchment with one word written on
it, one single word. It reads “Ethran”. As he said the word out loudly
the words started to bleed off the page and into his veins. He drops
the parchment and starts to move away from it, but then something
strange happens, he starts feeling light headed almost as if he's
flying. He notices the room changing, swirling around and around, he
feels as if he's going to be sick and then it suddenly stops. He's
still sitting in the middle of this room but its day light, and it
seems different. He gets up and looks out the window, the gates are no
longer rusted the wall is no longer overgrown. Its as if everything's
new. A second later a man storms into the room. He was tall and wore a
cape that covered his face. It was long, dark and dragged on the floor.
He walked right to the window and was standing in Jake. As Jake screams
and runs out of the room, he sees people moving around. He notices one
small boy because he is all covered in blood. The boy about his age
cries out “father” and runs to the hooded man. His short brown hair and
slim body almost a mirror image of Jake runs towards what seems to be
his father and the grand doors close. The swirling feeling starts
again. It's all over he's back in his room sitting next to the
parchment. A silvery shiny liquid comes out of his veins and slithers
its way back to the parchment and reinscribes the word “Ethran”. Jake
drops the parchment into the hole and covers it up. He runs back to
bed, hoping that it was all just a bad dream. He dreams a terrible
dream that night, and wakes in the morning to find himself tired and
unrested as if he hadn't been sleeping at all. As he gets out of bed
and runs down stairs to get to the kitchen for breakfast. He looks into
his sister's room to find it empty. All the rooms are empty. He runs to
the kitchen thinking everyone would be having breakfast but there is
just a note on the fridge “Gone shopping. Don't worry we will be back
around 5 o'clock” He looks at the clock. It's 1 pm he must have slept
through the whole day. As he wonders around the house, he remembers
that he still has to unpack everything in his room. He walks up the
great big stairs leading towards his room, when he hears a strange
noise as he starts to run up the stairs to see what it was. He sees the
attic door, it's open. As he slowly walks towards it he hears a glass
shattering scream and the door slams shut. Jake walks towards the door
about to open it, but the phone rings. He finally reaches the ground
floor and answers the phone “Hello?” “Oh hello Jake, it's grandma. I
was just wondering how you have settled into your new house” she said
“Oh it's great! I love it, its such a big house we could so make a
horror movie in here” Jake said excitedly “Well is your mum or dad
there” “Na im sorry they've gone out to do some shopping they will be
back around 5 if you wanna call then” “Thanks Jake and have fun, bye”
“Bye” Jake said As he puts down the phone he walks to the kitchen to
see what he can eat. He sees some cheese, milk and some peanut paste he
grabs the peanut paste and walks over to the counter and gets some
bread and makes him self a peanut paste sandwich. He walks up the
stairs slowly looking in all the rooms seeing if there is anything
interesting. He walks past the attic door and stood and stared at it a
while and then walked to his bedroom. He walked to where the hole under
the floor boards was and sits down next to it. He lifts the pieces of
board to reveal the hole which still has the parchment and other
things. The hole is full of parchment not just the one with “Ethran”
but others which had weird symbols inscribed on them, one had a image
that had been torn in half.

When an item is torn in half and joined it creates a hole, it allows the
bearer to go anywhere depending on the item drawn. For example if a
door is drawn then ripped in half, when the two pieces are joined
together its creates a fold in space and time. It would allow the
person to go anywhere at anytime almost like a doorway, most things
work like this windows, closets, cupboards, draws anything that joins
one place to another. But only powerful wizards and witches can create
these inscriptions on parchment which creates the portals. Anyone can
draw a door and tear it in half but it takes a truly powerful magical
being to make them into portals.

Jake wonders why people would leave old pieces of torn paper in this
hole. He put them back and closed up the hole in the floor boards. He
looks up at the digital clock it's only 1:30 so he walks down the grand
stairs into the lounge room. Nothing had been unpacked yet all that was
in the lounge room was wrapped ornaments and family possessions. Jake
lies on the floor looking up at the memorising pattern on the roof and
slowly drifted to sleep. In his dream he is still exploring his lounge
room, but it's different. He has unpacked some of the ornaments and put
them on the mantle. He turns his back to the mantle with the ornaments
on it, but then he senses something. He quickly turns around and
there's a shadow standing right in front of him. The shadow starts to
darken and a boy about his age appears. He lunges for Jake. Jake backs
away scared, what was this thing? Was it a boy. One things for sure
Jake wasn't going to stay around and find out. At that second Jake
turns around to run but the thing yells “STOP!, We need you, The
Ethrilian Guard Needs You” as Jake turns around something else caught
his eye. A large blue sphere struck the boy. The boy screamed in pain
and burst into flames. At that second another blue sphere flew out of
nowhere and struck Jake. Jake jumped up from the couch screaming, he
looked around and noticed that the ornaments hadn't been unpacked,
there were not signs of the fight. He must have been dreaming. He hears
a noise upstairs and he races up the grand stairs to face the attic
door. It is wide open and there is a shiny liquid floating in mid air
in front of the open door. It launches it's self at Jake, Jake
instinctively puts his hand out in front of him and something inside of
him just said “Trust in the power of the Ethril Guard” and at that
moment a blue shining sphere flew out of his hand and collided with the
shiny liquid which was obliterated and sprayed everywhere. Jake hears
the same earth shattering scream as the door closes.

It is said that the “Guard” are the most well trained wizards in the
universe. However it is common knowledge if a Ethrilian is born he
would poses super human strength and magical talent. A Ethrilian Guard
is a child born with one of its parents pure Ethrilian and the other a
“Guard.” It is said that if a Ethrilian Guard needed help at anytime
the magic inside them would protect them, as long as their will to
survive was strong. A strong wizard or warlock does not have to say a
spell to create it he can just think it. It takes a powerful wizard to
call on magic he has never used before that is why the Ethrilian Guard
are the best.

Jake stands there stunned at what just happened but then something
happens he starts to feel giddy, his vision had gone all blurred and
started to go black. As he starts to fall to the ground he sees a small
amount of silver liquid on his arm. That last thing he remembers as he
closes his eyes is the sharp stabbing pain in his stomach. “Jake!,
Jake! Are you ok” his sister yells at him as she shakes him violently.
His head hitting the hard wood floor. “Ouch! That hurts” Jake slurred
“Oh shut up wimp” she said back as she flicked him on the head. His mum
and dad came running up the stairs “Is everything ok up here” they said
all flustered “Yes he's fine, why where u asleep on the floor Jake” his
sister said dumbfounded. “I wasn't sleeping I passed out” Jake said
back “What ever you little wimp” she said flicking him on the head
again “Well as long as you two are ok” the parents said “I'm fine I'm
just going to lie down in my room I think” Jake said rubbing his head.
Jake got up and very slowly walked to his bedroom. He lay on his bed
for awhile but then he walked over to the hole in the floorboards and
looked in there again. Pieces of parchment the images torn in half and
then something else. He hadn't seen this in there before it was a piece
of parchment again like the first piece of parchment he found it said
one word. He reluctantly said it out loud “Ethrilian” he said a whimper
in his voice Nothing happened and Jake breathed a sigh of relief but
then the word bleed of the page in a silvery blood like state and
seeped into his veins. The room started to spin and he started to feel
sick again and then suddenly it all changed. He was in a class room
sitting at a table with someone sitting next to him. The teacher was
explaining how to do a spell. He was a wizard Jake didn't know how he
knew but he did he was sure of it. “Jake are you listening to me at
all, I said I like your sister will you talk to her for me?” the boy
sitting next to him whispered “Jakes head turned almost like he was in
someone else's body and he whispered “Look James she's my sister and
how could you ever like a girl with the name Sarah” “Jake! Pay
attention” the teacher yelled at him “sorry sir” Jake said Horsley Then
the surroundings changed he was now running, running from something.
Running from something in a forest and he had blood all over his
clothes he was running towards his house. He ran inside all the people
looking at him as he called out father. Then it happened he saw the
hooded man this was the same place as he went the first time. The
hooded man yelled out “Jake! What happened?” As Jake ran towards the
hooded man he ran inside the room and the doors closed “We were
attacked” Jake said scared and crying “Attacked! By Who Tell Me Jake
and where's Sarah” he said worried and grief stricken “We were attacked
by the Warlocks I think, I'm not sure, I'm sorry. I managed to
teleport Sarah to the hospital but I didn't have time to teleport my
self so I ran. He hit me with those balls of light.” He said starting
to get weaker He noticed his vision was going blurred again and he was
getting sleepy. “I'm sleepy dad” Jake said almost passing out then and
there “NO! Don't go to sleep Jake, please don't, Jake NO!” was the last
thing the hooded man said as Jake passed out. The swirling feeling
started again and he was in his room. With the parchment in his hands
and the one word written on it “Ethrilian.”
