A young man in the doctor's office claims to be Jesus Christ... | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story "Tell me about the stock exchange incident." "The modern Tower of Babel, the money lenders, what's to tell? I tried to close them down. To show them worship of money was evil." "What happened?" "I was arrested, imprisoned, referred to a shrink, Madden, I think they called him." "When was that?" "Almost two years ago." "And since then?" The young man smiled. "I have tried to keep a low profile, working quietly here and there. It is a slow process." He sighed, and pulled absently at the sleeve of his robe. "I tried to see the world leaders, of course, everyone thinks I'm deluded." "Are there no ways of proving you are Christ?" "I have no wish to prove things, only to improve them." He gazed intently out of the window and intoned softly. "Oh what creature is this that can both fly and walk the earth. Be it a God? Or merely the makings of man." "I'm sorry?" "Nothing, I'm just rambling." The young man stood up. "You have listened to me, I thank you, but this is my problem. I must find the conclusion myself. I'll waste no more of your time. Gooday" "Wait!" said Dr. Frobisher, but his patient had smiled and left, closing the door behind him. Frobisher sighed, and leaned back relieved. There was always a manic intensity with these religious dementia patients he saw, that really drained him. He reached forward, pouring a glass of water from the carafe on his desk. He stopped midway. Horrified... It was no longer water. It was wine. Tweet
