This was a descriptive story that I did for my School work. There's a twist at the end. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story Minutes later the crew disembarked from the ship smiling and happily embracing their family. After months at sea the men where thankful to finally be home. As their wives or mothers asked them what had happened on the voyage the sailors would give a hearty laugh before replying about the adventures they had experienced and the treasures they had seen. The women listened intently to every word, gasping at the wondrous things the sailors had witnessed. I watched the sailors as they boasted about the great acts they had preformed during their time on the ship and their brief visits on dry land. Their wives took their arms and together the sailors walked away merrily. As sailors left more of the crew walked down the gangplank to great their family until they had all headed home. The only people left where workers and passers by heading for the marketplace near the middle of town. Only one person still stood by the ship. She was much taller than the other women. She stood quietly with her head lowered to the ground. She wore a high priced hat, which would protect her from the suns glare on her skin. A long dark cloak hung over her shoulders, which she held around herself for warmth. I could see a delicate white dress behind the cloak it looked like the very best silk that could be bought. She had fine, blond hair that ended at her shoulders brushed over a hundred times until perfection had been achieved. The woman slowly turned towards the ship as the captain made his way down the gangplank. Her lips where rosy red and slightly parted. Her skin nearly as white and fine as her dress. Her eyes where as blue as the sea, silent and deep. She strode smoothly towards the foot of the walkway and waited patiently for the captain. The captain did not seem to notice the tall woman. He stopped at the end of the gangplank and breathed in heavily before taking the first step onto steady land. He looked towards the woman and said a few words before offering his arm. She took it and together they silently walked down the port away from the ship and my window. Just before leaving my view the captain glanced back at the sea and his vessel. Bidding farewell to his vessel he slipped away. Soon after I could hear footsteps behind me. The sound of water in a watering can mingled with the footsteps. The steps where heavy on the wooden floor and they ceased right behind me. Seconds later I could feel life being poured back into me as the water was spilled over me and into the soil to be taken in by my roots. Tweet
