Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story teacher had started in class but she stopped. She saw Jimmy on the floor and the bullies next to him. In the reflection of the glass she saw Bobby walking toward them. She stopped before anyone saw her. Bobby took each one of the boys by the throat and backed them up against the wall. Then he slid them up the wall until their feet was about a foot off the floor. Than for the very first time the kids in the class heard Bobby speak without the teacher asking him a question. Bobby looked at each of these boys and he said, “If I ever see one of you even go near Jimmy one more time I will turn loose on you like you couldn't imagine. Do each of you understand”? Both shook their heads yes and than Bobby turned them loose and they hit the floor. The whole class laughed at them as they tried to get up and get away from Bobby. Than he picked up the desk with Jimmy still in it. Than Bobby picked up every book and paper and put back on Jimmy's desk. The teacher than entered the room. She saw every thing that happened. She stood in front of the class and you could have heard a pin drop. Than she said, “I have decided to change the seating arrangement”. She looked at the two bullies and said, “I want you two in front of this class. One on each side of me”. She asked Bobby, “Would you mind if Jimmy moved to the back beside you”? Bobby shook his head OK. Than she asked Jimmy, “Will that be OK with you”? Jimmy said, “Of course,” he replied That was the happiest days of Jimmy's life. That was the closest Jimmy had ever been to Bobby. That day as they did their work Jimmy noticed that Bobby would use the back of old sheets of paper when they were asked to turn in work. Bobby didn't waste anything because there was not enough money to eat and buy school supplies. The teacher had offered him supplies but he politely asked if he could use his old stuff. Bobby was so ashamed of his life he didn't want anyone to know. It was almost time to go home that day and the teacher had given one more assignment to do in class or take home. Bobby was going through a stack of his papers trying to fine one page that wasn't full on both sides. Jimmy was watching. Than Jimmy tore out three pages of clean paper and lay on Bobby's desk. He whispered, “Please take it”? Miss Lawson, their teacher was quietly watching and she smiled when Bobby turned to Jimmy and said, “hank you”. Miss Lawson thought to her self, “God why didn't I move the boys together along time ago. Please forgive me but I was afraid Bobby would reject him and Jimmy had enough problems”. It was about 5 minutes before time for the bell to dismiss school. Miss Lawson slipped outside of the door and called Jimmy's Mom. She explained what had happened that day and she was afraid the two bullies would hurt Jimmy before he got home. That's why Jimmy ‘s Mom was always out front waiting on him. She wanted so much to come to school and pick him up but Jimmy thought that made him look like a mama's boy and that would just add to his problem. Jimmy wasn't aware that Mom & Dad knew of his problem and they didn't want him to know because they didn't want to embarrass him any more than he already was. They just prayed that some day the big kids would get tired of picking on him. Soon the bell rung and everyone started home. That was going to be the hardest 5 blocks Jimmy had ever had to make. He knew the two bullies would be waiting for him. He waited as long as he could than he started home. Jimmy thought they would give him time to get about half way home before they would jump him. Not to close to school and not to close to home. Jimmy thought he would be safe for two blocks anyway. Jimmy got one block from school and to his horror he heard someone behind him. Jimmy was tired of running. He didn't look back or he didn't speed up. He just kept his head up and continued on. He had gone another block and they were still back there. Jimmy could here them. They never got any more than 5 foot from him and just stayed there. Now if Jimmy walked faster they would walk faster. If he slowed up they would slow up. They just kept the 5-foot distance. Than suddenly in front of Jimmy was a big tree that hung out over the sidewalk. When he was about ten-foot of it the two bullies dropped out and fell but they were up and running away as fast as they could. It was if they had seen a ghost. Suddenly they darted across the street and ran in the path of a car. Of all the cars that could have struck them this was a police car. Jimmy watched, as the two bodies lay lifeless in the street. The officer was out of the car and telling all the people, “Move on, please move on, An ambulance will be here shortly”. Jimmy was terrified so he walked on toward home never looking back. Some one was still behind him keeping the 5-foot distance. Than Jimmy was less than one block from his house and he saw not only his Mom but also his Dad out side waiting for him. Jimmy stopped and he stood there and looked. Suddenly he turned and looked behind him. It was Bobby. Words can't explain the relief that came over one little scared boy. Either of the boys said a word. Than Jimmy ran toward his Mom & Dad as fast as his legs would carry him. Bobby watched as he went into the arms of his Mom. Bobby could only imagine what that felt like; he had never had a hug. Than Jimmy went into the arms of his dad. Bobby just stood there and stared at this marvelous sight. Tears ran down his cheeks as he watched. Then he turned and dropped his head and started his dreaded trip home. Bobby thought maybe I will get lucky and they won't be home or will be passed out and not know I'm home. That evening Jimmy called every classmate he had and asked for a favor. Most of these kids Jimmy went to church with and they were his good friends they were just afraid just like him. Each person Jimmy called said they would be glad to help. Even every girl in that class wanted to help. Than Jimmy called Miss Lawson and he told her what they had planned and she wanted to help also. That next morning when Bobby got to class no one was in the room. He took his seat and than one by one each boy and girl marched in the room. Bobby noticed everyone had on a different sock on each foot. Miss Lawson was last and even she wore mixed socks that day. Bobby had never seen her without hose but today she wore socks. Bobby glanced down at his and he had on a red one on the left and a blue one on the right. Miss Lawson stood before the class and than she spoke. She said, “Kids last night on the way home Mickey & Mikey ran in the path of a car. They are in the hospital and are in very bad shape”. Than she looked at Bobby and winked. Bobby and Jimmy were unaware that Miss Lawson was behind them watching. She reminded all the kids to cross the street only at the crosswalks and be sure to look both ways before you cross. The next week was the happiest days of Jimmy's life. He still would have liked to be Bobby because he was such a cool guy. Jimmy had no ideal what a miserable little boy this was. One day Jimmy asked Bobby if he would go to church with him. Jimmy said, “Half the guys and girls in our class go to my church”. Bobby said, “I would like to but I have nothing to”----he stopped. Bobby said, “Maybe I better not”. Than Jimmy said, “If ever boy and girl in this class wear the clothes they are wearing today will you come”? Before Bobby could answer Jimmy said, “You would have to wear what you have on today too”. Bobby smiled and said, “I would love to”. That Sunday Bobby, Jimmy and ever kid in the class was at church wearing just what they had promised. In fact the next 12 Sundays Bobby and Jimmy with all their friends were there. Jimmy's Mom & Dad fell in love with Bobby. They tried not to make a big fuss over him because he was such a different little boy. Bobby loved studying about Jesus and he was full of questions. He hated it when it was time for Sunday school to be over. Bobby would ask, ”why do we just go to church on Sunday & Wen? Why can't we go more”? Bobby was so happy now. He had been baptized and the only thing he was missing was a hug. It was so sad. All the people wanted to hug and love him but they were afraid because they thought he didn't want this. Most knew his father and that were not allowed. So the people just spoke and talked to him. If they only knew how much this guy wanted to be like them. Bobby never complained. Than one day while Jimmy & Bobby were in town they were standing waiting on the light to cross the street. Jimmy saw Bobby look right at a car and than he stepped of the curb in front of it. The car hit him and threw him about 20 foot down the street. Jimmy couldn't believe his eyes. His very best friend in the world lay lifeless in the street. Someone put their arms around Jimmy to calm him down. Soon the ambulance was there to rush Bobby to the hospital. Someone called Jimmy's parents and they rushed to the hospital. After 2 hours of surgery the Doctor came out to talk to Jimmy and his Parents. The Doctor said he had some internal injuries and if he could make it through the night he may pull through. The doctor said, “Bobby's parents would be here in a few days if they had time”. He asked, “would you like to talk to Bobby”? Jimmy asked, “Please Mom & Dad can we go set with him”. Jimmy's Dad said, “Of course. Mom or myself will stay here night and day until he can go home. You come here straight from school. One of us will pick you up”. Than Jimmy and his Mom & Dad enter the room. The Dr. walked with them and when they got to the bed the Dr. softly said, “Bobby, someone is here to see you”. Slowly Bobby opened his eyes and turned his head toward Jimmy. With tears in both of the boys eyes Jimmy asked, “Bobby why did you step in front of that car, you seen it coming”? Bobby could hold back the tears no longer. His words finally came out. He said, “I know Jesus will hug me every time he sees me. I can't wait any longer”. Jimmy's Mom was historical. The Dr. softly told her, “Please love him”. Jimmy's Mom cradled Bobby in her arms and held him. She said, “Please forgive me, you can have hugs here too. Please hold me and don't let go”. She held and gently rocked him for a few minutes. Than she asked, “When was the last time you were hugged”? “I don't remember”? Replied Bobby. Than Bobby felt two very strong arms gently hold him. It was Jimmy's Dad. Than Bobby asked, “Will you hit me because I cried”? A very shocked Dad looked at Bobby's tears and Bobby touched the tears than ran down Dad's face. Dad said, “I promise you no one will ever hit you again. I want to arrange for you to live with some one else. Would it upset you if we found you another home”? A sad little boy said, “No not really, I don't have a home”. Jimmy's Dad told Bobby that day; “We will fix that I promise”. Continued Bobby's New World Chapter 2 Tweet
