The third in a series of rants. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story is completely corrupt and biased towards the corporations. In a capitalist society the number one goal in any endeavor is to make money anyway possible. If that means tearing down rainforests or mining in the Grand Canyon, then that is fine by them. If you really want to preserve nature and our natural resources, eliminate the profit motive. That means socialism and eventually communism. That is the progression that Karl Marx laid out for us. In both economic systems there is no profit motive. Resources, food, clothing, shelter, etc..., are distributed to each according to need. It is possible then to supply the needs of the people without the chronic overproduction that is created by capitalism. If you want proof that capitalism overproduces, pick up any economics text and you'll find it. With no overproduction it becomes possible and desirable to preserve natural resources and natural beauty. For those of you who jumped in your chair when I said communism let me clear up a few things. There has never been a true communism in the world. Nations that you associate with communism were never communist, except in the sense that they referred to themselves as such. You might be thinking of oppression and huge, pervading government. Oppression is not a part of communism or socialism. In communism there is no government so to speak. Everyone is considered equal and they all pitch in to get done what needs doing. Socialism does involve a lot of government control, but Marx says that that government will eventually fade away out of use because it will eventually be unecesary for the maintenance of the community. That's sounds naive and ridiculous, but I think that if there were a radical change in the way people think and act it could be accomplished. That's asking alot, and I don't see it ever happening in my lifetime. But it is something to hope for. So I would like to say to all the Greenpeace people: Why not become communists and really create some change? With this last point in mind I'd like to encourage all of you to read up on communism and communists. Read some Camus and Sarte. Think about ways to help your community. And finally, don't vote in the next election. I'll explain this last one in my next rant. I might even do a little research. Finally, please give me feedback, either through the anonymous email option or in the forum. The thread is "Why Thunder God is an Idiot." The title makes me laugh everytime I read it. Thanks to the guy that thought that up. As you already know, I love hearing from you, whether you agree with me or not. Let me know that I've made you think and I will offer up more of MY misguided wisdom. There. I'm done. Tweet
