Well, hanging around isn't too bad. At least not when you're going in circles. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story It was silence for a long time. Even my memory started to fade a bit. But I still remembered. After hanging in that shop for a very long time, it must have been over a year, I knew enough of the toy business to know that sales were going down. I had been a nice attraction, but the competitor had new planes and trains and tanks and trucks and everything. My salesman started to worry. He could not get a new attraction. I noticed one day that my price was down. No longer did those voices had to pay 199 dollars. Now, the same old me would cost them 149 dollars. Still, the toyshop became quieter every day. 99 Dollars didn't help much and even 49 dollars didn't return all those voices. And then, a strange voice entered the shop. Said something about a loan and money to pay and no more business. Then a few voices telling how they hated to clear out the lovely old shop, but the competitor was cheaper and had more attractions. They forgot about me and I hanged there in silence. Suddenly a breaking sound. A little voice entered my silenced world. And another, and one more. Three little voices, sneaking around in the old abandoned shop. One of them discovered me. First, they were surprised. Then one noticed the thread. And after ages I was flying again. They took me down and looked me all over. "It's all dusted." "Yeah, but it looks the same as daddy has." "Let's take it." So they did. It occurred to me that time must have been flying. For in the room were the three little voices took me to, a big voice told them that he remembered that when he was a little boy he saw the same plane hanging and spinning in the toy shop. And that it probably was the same plane. "Well, let's get it clean and hang it up." So I was cleaned. My bright red and yellow colors were a little faded, but still I was a very beautiful fighter. And the little voices spun me around every time they passed me. Around and around. Always in circles. Boy, am I getting bored of that. But want I to go another way? No, I do not think so. And I don't mind much. Tweet
