Brenda struggles to escape the nightmare on her tail, but things go terribly wrong. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story "You could have made it easy," Brady laughed, "But instead you made it hard." He stood over her so that she could see his face. He wore a nasty jeer and she closed her eyes but his image stayed on the back of her eyelids. There was always something wrong with the good looking guys. Always! "She's bleeding," Jesse pointed out. Jesse sounded as if he were concerned but Jennifer decided that was because he hadn't expected anyone to get hurt. "We all bleed from time to time," Brady commented. He sounded so indecent and uncaring that she opened her eyes to look at him. He had seemed so nice and full of manners now he just seemed like a coldhearted monster. "Yeah but," Jesse started but then stopped. He nearly kicked himself for being such a wuss. The girl was hurt and she had done nothing to deserve the pain, only ran away which was reasonable considering that she had Brady chasing after her. Her blue eyes were watching Brady with a mixed look of dislike and repulsion. He had to agree with her. This guy was a bad one. "Come on," Brady commanded. Brady grabbed one arm, Jesse grabbed the other, and they yanked her up. She just about cried with pain for she hurt all over with the pain of the fall but she refused to give him the triumph of hearing her cry out. She almost fell again but they held her steady. She let all her weight fall on Brady, he just smiled, and they began to slowly walk out of the garage. If he wanted to kidnap her or whatever, he would have to work for it. "Brady, we have Beverly," Luke suddenly shouted as they emerged out of the garage. Brenda looked up and saw Beverly limping between the two boys. Disappointment sank into her chest and she wanted to cry. Why did this have to happen to a bunch of innocent girls? "Beverly," she whispered, her breath finally coming back. She was limping, was she alright? "Are you all right Brenda?" Beverly called. She could see a spot of red blossoming on Brenda's white shirt which was now brown with dirt. She wondered what the jerks done to her poor friend. "She's fine," Brady announced. He glared at Beverly and looked fondly at Brenda. He stroked her face and she didn't even have the strength to yank away from him. He took that as a sign of her softening to him and his smile became even broader. "As if," she hissed and a frown quickly replaced the smile. She would never give him the satisfaction of her liking him, never. Then she noticed Ricky limping out of the forest. He was rubbing his crotch and there were tears on his cheeks. She thought of Jack and her kicking. She had been very infamous for kicking guys in the inappropriate area. She was sure that Ricky had met up with Jack, especially when she heard his story. "What happened to you?" Jesse laughed. "The witch kicked me in the groin and ran off," Ricky squeaked. He looked as if he were about to burst into tears, again. "Oh good, so between the three of you, you lost two girls," Brady sarcastically cheered. He was really becoming irritated. He had wanted things to be simple, he had only wanted Brenda. He looked at her with sadness in his eyes, he truly loved her and wished that she loved him back. He would give her everything and do anything just for her approval but she would have none of it. He knew she was strong spirited and would not be easily broken. That was something that he loved about her. "It wasn't my fault, she kicked me where the sun don't shine," Ricky mumbled. He was embarrassed and sore and everyone was laughing at him. He didn't like that very much. "Not to mention where no girl has been either except for kicking," Jesse laughed out. Luke and Tom burst into a fit of giggles. "You take that back or I'll make you," Ricky threatened. He puffed his chest up with anger and was determined to prove his manhood. "Shutup all of you or I will make you," Brady blurted. Immediately there was silence and Brady smiled triumphantly. Brady knew that all the boys feared him for they knew that he was very unstable and moody. His temper could flare up at anything and they did not want to set it off. "Isn't that sad?" Brenda weakly chuckled. She was unimpressed by the way the boys fell into line at his word. "What?" Brady asked. His entire being went tender when she spoke but she did not care in the least. "All the boys are scared of you but none of the girls are," Beverly replied. She knew what Brenda was thinking for she felt the same way. "Exactly," Brenda added. "That's what you say now but sooner or later I will have you kneeling in submission," Brady smiled. He wasn't so sure about Brenda but he was determined to break Beverly. He cared nothing for her and since she had chosen to get involved, he was going to make her pay. "Only when hell freezes over," Brenda responded. Her words hurt him and he decided to outdo her, show her that he could put up a fight too. "I feel a cold breeze coming on," Brady chuckled. "Good one Brady," Tom remarked. "I believe that's you're my heart to yours," Brenda huffed out with an icy glare at him. "I want Tom, Luke, and Ricky to find those escapees before they find help. Jesse will stay here with me and watch my two prisoners of war," Brady instructed after he made a point of ignoring her comment. He gazed at her with admiration in his eyes but she would not look at him, she did not feel that he was worthy enough for her to look upon. So, he looked spitefully at Beverly and was shocked when she returned the look with enough venom to kill, if looks could kill. "Yes sir," Luke did a salute and then they were off. Brady doubted that they would catch the other girls but it was worth a try. "You know that I will catch them," Brady hissed at the two girls. He would at least try to infuriate them while he had quiet time with the both of them. "Amanda is a softball player and is trained in running fast," Beverly pointed out. She was sure that her friend could easily outrun and beat the losers that Brady had sent after her. She was also pretty sure that Amanda had already reached help and that they would be saved soon. "Yeah and Jack is a very swift one too and she is trained in karate or judo. I'm not sure which but I am relatively sure that she can take care of herself and whoever you send after her," Brenda explained. She thought of her friend kicking all the guys and could barely contain the laughter that threatened to boil over. "Keep telling yourselves' that," Jesse said. He wished with all his might that he could get away but he did not think that he would be able to so he just sat there, watching Beverly and Brenda. "We will and so should you," Beverly insisted. Suddenly a rock came whizzing out of the trees and hit Brady in the thigh. He jumped up, anger streaming from his pores. "Ouch," he shouted. His eyes searched for the evildoer but he could see no one and this enraged him. "Get help," Brenda screamed. Brady slapped his hand onto her mouth and she bit down as hard as she could. She tasted coppery blood and spat. She had never bit hard enough to draw blood and it made her stomach flip with disgust. She spat again, hoping to rid her mouth of the bitter taste. "You little twit," Brady cried out and stared in shock at his hand. Brenda saw a few drops of blood dripping from his hand. She almost felt bad for hurting him and then her stomach twined as if to remind that he had hurt her first. She smirked up at him and felt glad that she had caused him a bit of pain. "That is what you get," Beverly laughed and another rock flew out and beamed Jesse in the arm. He bit his lip but did not cry put for he felt that was what he deserved for cohering with Brady and not saying anything. "Good aim," Brenda cried out and something snapped inside of Brady. He didn't care that he loved her anymore, he was tired of her mouthing off. "You're dead," Brady cursed and balled his unbit hand into a fist. His curled up hand crashed into her face and Brenda fell onto her back. She felt her head seem to spin and she closed her eyes in pain. Today had to be the worse day of her life. Things just seemed to get more painful as time went along. She heard another rock thump against Brady and heard it fall to the ground. She then heard Beverly laughing at Brady then another smack and Beverly was silent. Her heart leapt out to her friend whom she prayed was not hurt to bad. She heard Brady order Jesse, "Go catch that damn rock thrower!" She opened her eyes and saw a trickle of blood on Brady's forehead. He touched it gingerly and when he saw the blood, his eyes opened wide with shock. He thought he was invincible and the blood said otherwise. "Bull's eye," she whispered and she saw Jesse running off into the forest. She hoped that the only thing he caught was a good branch in the face and then she closed her eyes again. Elyse threw one last rock at Brady and hit him in the shin and then she turned and ran. She had no intention of being caught by Jesse. He was a cutie but he wasn't that cute. She could hear him stepping on twigs and everything, making a ton of noise so she knew that she would only have to be silent to escape him. "Come back here," Jesse yelled. He didn't mind chasing after Elyse for Brady. He had a huge crush on her and had since he was twelve, he was now sixteen. Though, he would not take her back to Brady, he was a nutt. "Not on the hair of your chinny chin chin," Elyse laughed ecstatically. She ducked into some underbrush and found her hollow tree. She slipped inside and silently laughed when she saw Jesse charge right past her. What a dope, she thought, but he was a cute and very sweet dope. "Where'd you go?" he screamed. Elyse smiled and waited till she could no longer hear him smashing through the brush then she set out to find help. She wanted to find those two counselors who were left but she would take whoever she got, especially if it were Tyson. She smiled at the thought of Brenda being rescued by her love, Tyson. Brenda opened her eyes and looked at Beverly. She saw that her friend's eyes were closed and her left eye was beginning to blacken. She shook Beverly and she moaned softly. "At least you're breathing," she sighed in relief then grimaced with pain as she stood up. She hated being hurt and she bit her tongue to keep silent. "What do you think you are doing?" Brady wanted to know. His admiration grew for her for he knew that she was in severe pain yet here she was standing up. Even though he loved her though, his anger was flaring that she wasn't behaving. "You should never hit a girl. It is very ungentlemen- like," Brenda advised. She knew that he would not care but she could distract him for a while. She knew not from what but she just had the feeling that she should discombobulate him. "What makes you think I am a gentleman?" Brady inquired. He was wondering what she was doing for she wasn't trying to escape. He decided that he needed to be on his toes. "Because you don't have the balls to be anything else," she nodded her head. She was going to agitate him and that made her happy. What better way to so than attack his manhood? "What does that mean?" Brady sounded angry. He did not have patience for her games and wished that she would shutup and sit down. "It means. . ." Brenda started. "It means you have met your match jerk," Amanda's voice announced. Brady and Brenda looked up to see Amanda holding a bat and baseball. Brenda wanted to shout with joy but she only smiled instead. "What are you going to do with that? Make me play fetch?" Brady laughed. Though he was joking around, anger and bewilderment filled his head. How could he whisk Brenda away now. Things had gotten far too complex. He hoped that someone would come back and he could escape with his beloved. "No, I want to see how far this ball can bounce off of your head if I hit as hard as I can," Amanda raised the bat into position. She tossed up the ball and Brady's eyes widened with fear. He had heard how she had the best aim and nastiest hit from some of the boys who had played baseball with her. He did not want that ball hitting him. Suddenly someone tackled Brady from behind. Brenda felt her heart skip a beat when she saw Tyson was the tackler. Her hero had arrived and even played a bit of football. She then saw Josh, Ryan, and Jack. She gave them thumbs up and saw Tyson yank Brady up by the hair on the top of his head. He wore a look of hatred on his face but it softened when he looked at Brenda. "Is this young boy bothering you m'am?" Tyson questioned. A playful smile was plastered on his face and his eyes sparkled at her. "Why yes he is," she responded. She hoped that he would beat Brady up for her but she was sure that he wouldn't. Tyson was too much of a gentleman. "Take him away boys and Jack, Amanda, carry Beverly to the nurse's office," Tyson instructed. His eyes flickered over Brenda and settled on the bloody patch on her shirt. "What about Brenda?" Jack wanted to know. She was concerned about her friend who looked so pale and so whipped. "I'll take care of her," Tyson replied. She felt her heart do a little dance at his words and she saw Jack grin. They locked eyes and a knowing glance passed between them. Good things did come out of bad events. "No loosing inappropriate clothing till we get back," Josh ordered. He also had a mischievous smirk on his face. Tyson, Ryan, and him all exchanged looks and they all burst out laughing. "Whatever," she chuckled. Then they started their tasks. Josh and Ryan had to drag Brady because he refused to walk. Things were not going his way and he wished that he had waited for the dozen of roses to be over with before announcing himself to the woman of his dreams and obsessions. Amanda had somehow coaxed Beverly to wake up and Amanda and Jack helped her limp away. All that were left, were Tyson and Brenda. Tyson took his shirt off and walked to the canteen. She looked at his body which was defined but not overly nor under. She sighed with longing and smiled at his form. He soaked the black shirt in the water fountain then carried it back to her. He lifted her shirt up and off the area that hurt. A breath of pain escaped her lips and he looked at her with concern. "What is wrong with it?" Brenda inquired. She didn't mind having Tyson be the doctor for he was so gentle and tender, it amazed her. "It is just a scrape but it is bleeding pretty badly," Tyson replied and pressed the wet shirt onto the scratch. She grimaced and bit her lip to keep from crying out. Suddenly Tyson looked up and looked her right in the eyes. She became aware of how close he was, how cute his smile was, and how brown his eyes were. She gingerly ran a hand through his light brown hair and smiled softly. Tyson leaned forward and gently tipped her chin so that their faces were level. He slowly moved forward until his lips connected with hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed back. Her heart sang and she felt like she was going to pass out. Never before had she been so close to him, to the guy she had liked for seven years and everything swam around her and disappeared. She felt Tyson slide a hand around her waist and another one behind her head. She realized that she loved him with all her heart and she hugged him tighter to her. She forgot about the wet compass pressed to her stomach and to the pain it inflicted which was probably the point of the kiss, but none of that mattered to her at the time being. Elyse watched Tyson and Brenda kiss and she felt like cheering. Brenda had been dreaming over the boy forever or at least as long as Elyse could remember. Someone tapped her shoulder and she turned around to see Jesse standing there smiling. She sighed in exasperation and prepared to run away. "Got you," he chuckled. He hoped that he truly did have her and knew that if he did, Brady was permanently out of the picture. "Get away from me," Elyse shoved him away and shook her head. How could this loser not get the clue? She was not interested in being caught. "That was mean," Jesse's bottom lip quivered. His heart sank when she pushed him away. Did she hate him because he had been with Brady and helped him capture Jennifer? If so, he would kill Brady for her. "You are chasing me around and trying to capture me and that isn't mean but somehow my telling you to get lost is a cruel and unusual punishment," Elyse rolled her eyes. Gosh, this boy was stupid and she couldn't believe he was about to cry. "Well, I don't want to leave you alone and I don't even know how to" Jesse grinned sheepishly. He hoped that he could patch things up with her and still win her heart. "Why not?" Elyse asked. This did not sound like he was trying to kidnap her. It almost sounded as if he were trying to woo her. "Well, I sort of, you know, like you or something like that," Jesse was stepping side to side. This was embarrassing and he was feeling particularly tongue tied which was something that was highly unusual for him. "Something like that?" Elyse questioned. He was so cute when he was flabbergasted and all her bad thoughts of him vanished in an instant. "Yeah you know, something like that," Jesse chuckled. She didn't sound angry anymore, in fact, she sounded humored. "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" Elyse wanted to know. She was hoping to prompt him into the question. She wondered if he would have the guts to ask her for he was very shy. "Be my girlfriend," Jesse mumbled. He didn't even look her in the eye for he knew he would loose the courage to say anything if he did. He hoped that she would not refuse him but instead would accept. He hoped against hope that he would have a girlfriend by evening and that it would be Elyse. "I can do that for you," Elyse smiled and suddenly she heard Brenda cry out. Her mind immediately turned back to her friend and away from her beau. What else could possibly go wrong? She turned back and saw Ryan and Josh limping back towards Brenda. Ryan had a split lip and a black eye. Josh had a bloody nose and it looked like the beginnings of two black eyes. Both boys were limping. Her eyes widened with bewilderment and alarm. Where was Brady? "What happened?" Tyson inquired. His hand still lingered on Brenda's side and she was well aware of the weight of it even though she was paying attention to the two boys. "We were jumped by Tom, Luke, and Ricky. They freed Brady and left us whining in agony," Ryan explained. Even though he was beat up fairly bad, he still blushed at admitting defeat. "Oh God, please do not let him come back after me," she half-exclaimed and half-prayed. She was terrified and about to cry. She had got Tyson and the boys had lost Brady. What if his thought was, if he couldn't have her than no one could? Would he come back to kill her? "I'll go help them find him. You know even out the odds a little bit," Tyson decided. He looked into her eyes and his hand rubbed her side. "No, please don't go," Brenda implored him. She was afraid to be alone and afraid to let him out of her side "I have too," Tyson kissed her hand and turned towards his pals. He swirled back, "Brenda, go sit at the edge of the cliff. That way if anyone is coming you can see them. I will be back." He had her heart and he wasn't about to let it go. "Promise," she held his hand for a moment. She felt that something was wrong and that if she didn't make him promise, that he wouldn't come back. "I promise," he leaned down and kissed her lightly on the lips then left with his friends. She watched him go with misgivings and a heavy feeling of dread upon her heart. "Are you going to help Brady?" Elyse asked Jesse. If he helped him then she would have to say good-bye which she really hoped she didn't have to do. "Heck no, he treats us like dirt and expects us to do everything for him. I'll help you look for him," Jesse offered. He was choosing to be strong for he now had Elyse and nothing Brady could do would be worth his giving her up. "Thanks," Elyse had the urge to hug him and she followed it. She leaned over and gave him a quick squeeze. She saw the look of supprize on his face and smiled. They then turned into the forest to find Brady. Brenda pressed Tyson's shirt to her stomach and walked slowly to the cliff. She sat down and winced in pain. When Tyson had been there, the pain had been considerably less. Her head was beginning to swim and she lowered it for a moment. She heard a crack in the woods and was immediately alert. She felt her blood rush super fast through her body. Panic more frightening than before filled her every nerve with terror. "Hello? Tyson? Is that you?" she desperately searched the woods but saw nothing. Another crack broke the silence and Brenda felt fear curl in her stomach. If it were someone that she could trust they would have responded not continued creeping up in silence. "Elyse? Jack? Ryan? Brady?" she almost whispered Brady's name. She stared intently at the forest and tried to calm her heart down. Brady was probably captured by Tyson and she truly had nothing to fear. In fact, they were probably marching his sorry butt down to the counselors and sending someone to tell her the good news. She was sure that the wood cracking was squirrels and that was why they were not answering. She decided, squirrels were definitely the cause of the commotion. Suddenly a loud shriek exploded from the car garage and all she saw was a blur of color rushing at her. She knew that it was Brady coming to finish her off in her most vulnerable moment. The instinct to survive pumped through her veins and she knew that it would be a fight to the death, something that she knew she would regret. "Tyson!" she screamed and smashed out her foot. She saw and felt it connect with an ankle and heard a grunt of pain. Unfortunatly, he or she did not even react and continued the onslaught. The person yanked her blonde hair sharply and she inhaled a quick gasp of pain. Her stomach was completely forgotten about, and not in pleasure this time. A fist smashed into her jawbone and she felt as if her entire face had been moved sideways. She cried out in agony and flailed out wildly, searching for anything that she could torture in any possible way. She felt her hands twice collide with flesh and she beat harder. She was not going down without a fight, a fight that would be remembered. Then she recognized the person as being Brady. As if she hadn't figured that out yet but it still made her flabbergasted. He yanked harder on her hair and began to drag her towards the cliff edge. The pain was beyond excruciating and she felt blinded. She struggled to escape but his grip on her hair was hard to escape. "Brady, what are you doing?" Brenda cried out. She knew it was a stupid question but she hoped to stall him, perhaps long enough for someone to see the scuffle and save her. "You refuse me your love, which I have tried so hard to secure, so I shall refuse you the privilege of life," Brady laughed insanely. His blue eyes were beyond cold and uncaring, his heart hardened to her cries. His mind had finally snapped beyond repair and his love for her could not save her this time. "Don't do this. Please don't do this," she sobbed and struggled to pull her hair away. She knew that she was being the wussy heroine but she felt trapped and near her death. She had not planned the ending like this and didn't want it to end like this. She had so much in her life to look forward to and she couldn't let an off balance boy ruin her chances at happiness with Tyson. "Why are you even trying to convince me of releasing you. I will kill you," Brady began to giggle. His mind had really lost it's focus and all he wanted to do was kill, kill, and kill some more. His first victim would be Brenda. "No," she blurted and smashed her fist across his shins. She took advantage of his distraction and was determined that she would save her own life. She was not going to let him win without inflicting a few minor or major injuries. The look in Brady's eyes changed from insane to frightened as he lost his balance. His arms swung in circles as he tottered precariously in space. She felt his hands slip through her hair and he began to shriek. He had only wanted true love but things had gotten too elaborate. Brenda flipped onto her belly and began to scream as Brady tumbled down the side of the cliff. He dropped like a stone doll and his cry was cut short with a heavy thud. There was no more noise and something in her broke with that sickening sound. He hadn't deserved to die no matter how messed up in the head he was. There was always help for those poor fools. "No," Brenda wailed, for not only did she feel guilty but she had liked him, just a little. She rolled into a little ball and began to cry in mourning. Nothing could console her for she had murdered a mentally ill comrade and the guilt swelled within her like a balloon. "Brenda, are you okay?" Tyson came running to her side. He was always a bit late but his being there did bring a bit of comfort to her already tormented soul. "Help him. I didn't mean to kill him," she cried out. Perhaps, there was still a chance for him to be helped, perhaps the fall had not killed him. Then again, perhaps he was nothing but a crumpled heap of flesh, blood, and bones at the bottom of the cliff. She had to know. Tyson got up, walked to the side of the cliff, and looked down. There was nothing down there except for a large pile of cut grass and a couple large rocks. "Brenda, there's nothing there," Tyson explained. He was wondering if she had imagined it but he had a hard time believing that. Perhaps, he had heard them coming and had ran off but he had messed with her mind. It didn't matter, he was taking care of her no matter what the screwball had done to his sweetheart. "But I pushed him over. He was trying to push me over," she insisted. She had seen and heard him go over. She knew that he had to be there or somewhere around there no matter what Tyson was saying. "There is no one," he persisted. He wished that she would cool her accusations because when everyone else arrived, they would think that she was a nutt and they would begin to shun her. He was beginning to wonder about her sanity but he was not going to utter a word. "There has to be," Brenda whispered. She knew in her heart that he was alive and that the game would continue until one of them were dead. She didn't care what Tyson said for he had not seen the psychotic look in Brady's eyes when he was dragging her towards the cliff. No one had but her and she knew that he meant business. "No one," Tyson sat down beside her. He prayed that she would be able to get over the incident and that he would be there for her through it all. She was distraught over the incident and had to go home early from summer camp. She had no clue what her future held in store for her, all she knew was that she had to get away from this place of nightmares, at least for a time-being. Tweet
