Being stood up on her first date wasn't her idea of fun, then she saw him, hurrying around the corner. ‘Oh, Rose, I'm so sorry, an emergency came in. I couldn't get away. We were short-staffed as it was.' It's OK, you are only fifteen minutes late. I was going to give you another couple of minutes then go.' They came out of the cinema. Rose had had a great time. They had sat in the back row, where he had put his arm around her shoulder. And was she complaining? The weeks went on and Rose was still seeing the male nurse. She had forgotten all about Jason, until one evening while reading the evening paper. She happened to look at the announcement's page. That was when she saw it - the date that Jason and his girlfriend were getting married. She told the nurse later in the week. ‘Hey, I've got an idea,' he said to her. When the day of Jason's wedding arrived, they both stood outside the church. ‘Why are we waiting outside here,' asked Rose. ‘And why have we had to get dressed up? It's not as though as they are going to let us in.' ‘Just shut up and listen to me,' he said to her, before whispering in her ear, then slipping a ring on her finger. When the wedding couple came out, Rose and her boyfriend managed to get them on their own. ‘Hi, Jason,' Rose said to him. ‘Nice to see have got married, but you are scraping the bottom of the barrel, aren't' she added, before giving the bride the once over. ‘What do you mean, “scraping the bottom of the barrel”? ‘'Not your usual type,' she answered before turning towards the bride and saying, ‘Don't worry, love, when he finds out you've got no money, he'll soon get rid of you.' Just before Rose and her boyfriend started to walk away, Rose flashed the ring she had on her finger at the wedding couple. ‘At least I have found somebody that loves me. Have a nice life, Jason. And you, love,' she said, once again, turning her head towards the bride. They both walked away giggling. She was giggling even more when she and the nurse married each other a month later.
