Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story ‘Come and see me tomorrow,' the voice said before ringing off. Kelly spent the rest of the afternoon wondering about the job. Next day she skipped work again and made her way to factory on the far side of town. Once again, she was kept waiting ages for her interview. She decided she had enough of waiting and headed towards the door, but before she reached it, she heard: ‘Kelly Roberts.' She turned and saw this good-looking man. She followed him into his office. Twenty minutes later, out she came with a grin on her face. She had got the job and it happened to be full time. Next day, she turned up at work. ‘Where have you been?' Clare said. ‘The boss is going frantic.' ‘Oh, I wouldn't worry about him.' ‘Why not?' ‘Because I've come to give my notice in.' ‘You won't be able to afford to heat your flat if you give your notice in. Come to think of it, you won't be able to afford any food.' ‘I wouldn't worry about that. I've got a new job.' ‘Where, Kelly, tell us?' ‘You'll be finding out, sooner or later.' Kelly gave in her notice and made her way home, calling in at the supermarket on the way. She was going to chill out with a bottle of wine. When she got home, she showered and changed, then put the heating on, poured herself a drink ad spent the rest of the afternoon watching the television. Next morning, she got up, pulled back the curtains and thought how wonderful life was. After having her breakfast and then packing her wheelie suitcase, she headed off to the bus stop to get her bus. ‘Are you leaving town?' Clare asked when she saw Kelly at the bus stop.' ‘No, I'm off to my new job.' ‘So, what you got in the case, then? Your lunch?' ‘You'll find out soon enough.' Kelly had a great first day at work. Everything went well. She didn't have to go home, there was an added bonus that came with the job - a flat, and that night, while watching TV, a knock came on the door. ‘Well, you are full of surprises,' the visitor said. ‘Told you, didn't I Clare?' ‘Yeah, but why did you have to go and sack my mum?' ‘I didn't sack her; I had her demoted. Anyway, it is only temporary.' It turned out that the job Kelly had been offered, was a live-In housekeeper for the boss at the factory she went to for the interview, and Clare's mum worked there as a cook, but Kelly managed to get her demoted to a cleaner to get her own back for sending her home to a cold and freezing flat. She wasn't cold and freezing now. She had her own apartment in large country house, and she certainly didn't have any more heating bills to pay. Follow me on facebook. Also on Twitter. Tweet
